Re-Upload This was one of my first reactions. I am excited for the sequel which releases this week. I also will be watching 'UP' very soon; I've heard it referenced in 1 too many movies for me not to finally tackle it. much obliged!

My favorite part is when Joy realizes just how important sadness is to the equation of feelings.
@adiarainfoster
@adiarainfoster Ай бұрын
The only reason all of that happened is because Joy was refusing to let Sadness express herself. Textbook toxic positivity. We MUST process our sadness so we can move on and be happy again. Joy wasn't allowing Riley to do that. Mom didn't help either. Like you said, that was a lot of pressure to put on her about "staying happy" for her father. She didn't feel like she was allowed to be sad and thus Sadness was having her breakdown. Happy memories are touched by sadness all the time when that chapter of our lives closes. They become sad because we don't have that anymore and we miss it. We can't keep trying to gaslight ourselves into being happy. We have to work through the pain to find the joy again.

feeling sad over something that you loved being gone is not an intrusive thought. intrusive thoughts are thoughts, emotions are emotions. :-)
@jaeydnheeren
@jaeydnheeren Ай бұрын
plus, intrusive thoughts inflict harm on oneself or another person to an extreme degree(ie crashing a car) or are a thought of something immoral and/or generally illegal(ie murder). not to be confused with impulsive thoughts, which are quick thoughts that are harmless and do not cause major damage to a person or relationship(ie throwing an egg on the ceiling).

I watched this movie. I was so blown away, I immediately watched it a second time. So much damage can occur when emotions are invalidated, and/or repressed. This movie illustrates that risk beautifully. I truly believe this should be mandatory viewing for every human on the planet...

Yes, laugh suddenly and very hard while drinking milk -it will come out your nose. I did that a few times as a kid, probably early 60’s. Still in the old memory core. Yes, great film, knew you would like it. Thanks Mr. Valentine.

This movie is actually fantastic. At the time when I first watched it. I was at point in my life where I was absolutely feeling absolutely nothing and even though I was absolutely feeling absolutely nothing, I still cried profusely when Riley returned home to her parents after realizing the sin she was committing, and she finally returned home to her parents and embraced her dark side and embrace that we all have a dark side, and the dark side can possibly be healed by sadness and forgiveness and by an apology to a person you hurt. Because she hurt her parents running away and her parents really really hurt her in that situation, quite unknowingly, but in this situation, both of them need to apologize to each other. She needs to apologize to her parents and they need to apologize to her.

This film has amazing rewatch value. It's almost inconceivable how they concocted such a profound narrative and executed it to a T!

@@MrValentineReacts For whatever reason, it dropped into obscurity over the years. It released on Christmas Day around the same time as films like Charlie Wilson’s War, National Treasure 2, Sweeney Todd, and I Am Legend, which were all huge hits. I think it just got buried in the morass of blockbusters.

Just watched ESPN's 30 for 30 "False Positive" that aired today and did an impromptu fist pump when sprinter Butch Reynolds cited the writing of Frederick Douglass as an inspiration that kept him fighting. Rare to have his name brought up before anyone, if at all. But more important than the writing of Frederick Douglass, where's your Always Sunny reactions? ha
