It's amazing how this movie can make a peacock of all animals so scary. I've always considered Lord Shen the closest thing DreamWorks has to Scar, Disney's best villain. He's cold, calculating, his past directly ties in with the protagonist's, and there's so much depth to his character, plus Gary Oldman's performance is impeccable. I also love Po's struggle to find his true self and inner peace, and that "Po Finds the Truth" sequence in the panda village is so beautiful, yet so heartbreaking.

Honestly his mom leaving him in the flashback always makes me cry a lot

The fact Tigeress, the character everyone sees as hardcore and stoic, lost her will to fight when thinking Po was dead is so deep. Monkey looks to her and Tigress can't even answer, too heartbroken and defeated. This is one reason so many people ship them. Like platonic or not, they have a deep bond now and Tigress cares so much about Po that she didn't even want him near danger. I think it's because of becoming the heart of the five now. Appreciating all of them for who they are and their skills well showing them how to relax once in awhile too. Losing that heart, breaks people.

_Kung Fu Panda 2_ was by far the most emotional film of the franchise and like _Shrek 2_ it’s as good if not better than the first _Kung Fu Panda_ considering that there’s more action, it’s more darker than the first film, and especially we learn more on Po's backstory and his troubled past that triggers PTSD for Po that remained an internal conflict for him throughout the film which leads to Po on learning to _"not fight it, but to let it flow"_ just to find his _Inner Peace,_ especially when he faces off against Lord Shen the 2nd time. Also, Lord Shen is such an awesome villain and voiced none other than Oscar Winner, Gary Oldman. In fact, Gary Oldman was a huge fan of the first _Kung Fu Panda_ that he wanted to have a role in the second film as Shen. Finally, depending on how you look at it, Shen was defeated by a Warrior of Black and White (Po), Not to mention since Lord Shen is white and he ends up being covered in the black soot from the cannon he ends up becoming a warrior of "black and white"

This movie is so much better than the first one! Great fight scenes, great humor, deep storytelling and character development with Po. Po is not the nerdy loser but a confident leader. Definitely my all time favorite dreamworks film general.

Kung Fu Panda 2 is epic. Po's past story was very sad and heartbroken. Lord Shen is a dark villain. I enjoyed the battles 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾😱😱😱🔥🔥🔥

This is one of the best animated sequels ever! I love how Po and Lord Shen’s (currently my favorite KFP villain) stories are linked to each other because of what happened in their long ago. Top tier Dreamworks film!

Love this movie even more than the first. We see Po's relationship with the 5 getting better and we see just how well they work together. Not to mention the maturity of this movie too.

I read somewhere that when the movie came out there was a website with character bios and said with Shen he actually didn't want to take over China but after his parents rejected him for killing the Pandas, he felt like it was too late for him to turn back

i remember watching this with my mother when she was alive back in theatres hell had i know it at the time that this would be such a depressing and traumatic movie. years later now i realize how terrible this was for po and the PTSD he had from the genocide of the pandas was so heartbreaking to see even more when his mother left him to protect him. KFP 2 is one of the best dreamwork movies in my opinion along with one of the top 5 best animated movies in terms of plot and character development, shen was also cool as it showed that even someone who didn't know kung fu would be such a menace which is saddening. very glad you guys watched the sequel and the next one is not bad but not one which is super great compared to this one but then again this is awesome so skadoosh guys!

Also according to the old DreamWorks website the soothsayer (The goat woman who read the prosperously) was Shens nanny.

Sheng was one of the best dreamworks villians I used to get chills as a kid when I watched Po's flashback because it was one of the first childhood movies that went so deep into a topic I witnessed for the first time.

This was the first movie I watched in a theater and it was so worth it!

I can’t count the many times I see KFP2 I always tear up in those scenes, they just hit close to home.

This movie gets so deep, especially for a so-called children's movie. It's truly amazing.
