To this day everytime someone talk to me about a live action snow white or a live action evil Queen or even charming, i think about their portrayal in this show. Nobody can surpass these actors.

I remember watching an interview where they talked about falling in love on the show, sparks were flying when they were doing scenes together as Snow and Charming. It's a really cute story.

Fun fact: Jane Espenson wrote for Once Upon a Time and Buffy. Remember when Willow told Tara, "I found you. I will always find you"? Snow and Charming use similar dialogue here. I don't know if Espenson is behind that or if it's a coincidence, but I like to think it's a little nod to Willow and Tara. 😊

OUAT has a lot of connections to Buffyverse as well. From actors to writers to producers to weapons to very clear character inspirations so you will definitely love this show too. One of my favorite characters of all-time is from this series (Regina).

ok, this is REALLY funny: you seem very interested in everything is happening here. it's a good thing (it becomes better, going on). and it is wonderful that everyone, in the scene when emma and regina met, say:"wait a moment: is that... the evil queen?" and you:"wait a moment: is that christian gray?" 🤣 i didn't expect that

This show is... unique, and crazy. Not always in a good way, but it is quite enjoyable if you're not too demanding about the quality of the script. It also has some really cool characters.

Our world is "somewhere horrible" because no one gets a happy ending (because they all lost their memory and don't know who they are) except the evil queen. Until Emma arrived of course! The evil queen (Regina) was always awake because it is her curse, and Rumple woke up the minute he heard the name "Emma" (that's why he wanted to know her name). Just keep watching to understand everything!

I'm so happy about this, usually I'm sad when my favorite reactors are nearing the end of a series (in your case, Buffy) because they usually pick shows I don't know next, so you doing Firefly and OUAT means I get to stick around! Yaaaay!

This is truly the best live action of all time, there is no Disney live action movie that surpasses this show, all the action, the stories and the characters are fascinating although my favorite will always be Regina ❤

I love OUAT. There are things that you learn in later episodes that make a lot of what’s going on in this episode so much clearer.

I used to know a few people on this show. Writers Jane Espenson (Buffy/Angel/Firefly) and David Goodman (Buffy), head of post production Brian Wankum (Buffy), and composer Mark Isham, who I knew from my courier job. I recently met Lana Parilla (the evil queen) on a delivery. The trope that actors who play evil characters tend to be the nicest people applies. We passed each other in our cars while I was looking fir a parking spot abd she smiled and waved at me while driving by. She had no idea I was delivering to her. We ebdd up having a brief conversation about that and the show.

Seriously this show is my guilty pleasure. Please continue to watch it, at least for season 1. As you saw, this show has some very recognizable fairy tale characters and they are all intertwined in some way. I personally really enjoyed the deptness of the characters (Regina and Mr. Gold are just suberb) and the costumes/worldbuilding. Emma and Henry's conversation at the end always makes me tear up. Can you imagine being stuck in a town where no one ages and stays the same but when you bring it up people think you're crazy and delusional? Looking forward to more reactions

I don't remember when this show got too twisty for me, but I remember the first 2 or 3 seasons being really good. I love the portrayal of adoption in this show. Obviously at first glance it looks bad to have the adoptive mother be the Evil Queen from Snow White, but Regina is a nuanced character with both good and bad inside her, and she clearly loves Henry very much. Her character only gets more complex and she quickly became a favorite of mine. The coparenting relationship between Regina and Emma is more cordial than many real-life coparenting arrangements that _don't_ involve attempted murder.

I'm so excited to watch this with you! I loved the concept of this show, I remember starting it and thinking it was a bit too campy for me especially in the fairytale world but it was so interesting seeing the dynamics of the characters trapped in the real world. And I got emotional too during most of the same scenes. By the end of the episode I had to keep watching.

I just remembered that I really liked it, even though I never watched it past season 4. As an aside, there was a czechoslovak miniseries in the 80s that I adored called Arabela, where fairy tale characters and humans passed between the two worlds. Edit: Those were happy times when not almost everything on German television came from the USA. Overall less programs but still more variety.

This was basically the comic book "Fables" by Bill Willingham. Great story to check out, very adult. All of Willingham's comic books are great - I first started with his "Elementals", but the aforementioned Fables is excellent, his mini-series "Proposition Player" is an interesting take on the afterlife, and he wrote a very adult fairy tale called "Ironwood".

So in the original fairytale which is a lot darker than what disney made it into for children, the queen is made to "dance" in iron shoes that were made red hot on a fire at the wedding of snow white and the prince.

The show is compared to BtVS except this one is more about hope because its a take off fairy tales being a show owned by Disney aired on ABC. That's not a spoiler. That is telling people how the tone of the show works is meant to be taken. Something the creators said before the show aired, as well.

I’m not someone who enjoys fairytales a whole lot, I can appreciate them, and I don’t hate them, but I’ve never really gotten into the genre. I actually watched this out of reluctance for the first time because it kept showing up on streaming and I didn’t have anything new to watch. Also.. Jennifer Morrison. I enjoy her a great deal. It IS very unique and I can say it’s one of the only fantasy/ fairytale shows I absolutely got hooked from the very first episode and watched it to its completion. Hope you enjoy the rest of the show.

I welcome you to an incredible series (at least in its first seasons) called ONCE Open a time. It is incredible, what the first seasons achieved, which are mega well written and argued and it even seems that the first 3 or 4 were thought of as one, where everything will be connected, little by little and if you later revisit the series, it is It was beautiful to see all the threads that were there, but you didn't see. Already after the 5th onwards, it was noticeable that they had no idea what to do and they went off the cliff and that only, thanks to the fans who were still waiting for that magic of the first seasons to return, was that it continued for so long.

A mayor of a New England town, no matter how threatened by an outsider, ought not to say "I will destroy you," as that makes her seem a bit unhinged. And that is what prompts Emma to ask the question and to read Regina's lie.

I love this show for so many reasons, but the #1 reason is the Evil Queen/Regina's wardrobe, which you clocked immediately when she first came on screen.😁 This is going to be so much fun!
