The way I saw it, you see the photo of him smiling as a burger chef. Margot asking him for something as basic as a cheeseburger reminded him of the joys of cooking and how happy he was as a burger chef. He killed everyone cause they destroyed his love of cooking but she let him enjoy cooking one last time so he let her leave cause he realised she’s not like the others.

@@Chuuzus Yet she still had to ask for a to go box, if she didn't he likely wouldn't even think of letting her go, he would have likely let her eat it all up in the restaurant before the desert. This is similar to the tactic they tried with the sous chef, but she already had lost all joy in cooking, she didn't care anymore about any positive feedback towards her food. Slowik had that spark still left in

It was also satirizing the issues people deal with in all artistic or creative professions. Anyone who deals with critics, snobs, douchebags and wealthy assholes in order to get paid can relate to the problems the chef talks about.

basically the cheeseburger represented the last time he ever enjoyed cooking for people, the last time he cooked a meal with love, her asking for that simple, lower/middle class meal, that represents what gave him purpose free'd her. because she was the first person who gave him purpose and drive and passion again, as well as the only one to actually appreciate his cooking and take out the "ruin" from his art, as the rich had put the ruin into his art, causing him to not enjoy cooking anymore. She was also the only one there who didnt deserve to die, since she was the only one of the customers who wasn't rich.

To add a little to this (I agree with everything) I'd like to also point out that what stood out to him was that she was a service worker essentially, just like him and his team. But she wasn't burned out like them. She didn't feel exploited apart from that brief moment that guy asked her to involve her feelings and cross emotional boundaries in a business transaction. She had her integrity, and as she asked him to cook her a cheeseburger, she reminded him of a time when he still had his integrity intact, and that was a gift. She also played within the parameters of his game and he respected that. She didn't belong there not only because she wasn't rich (a taker) but also because she was a giver (service worker) with her individuality intact. He and his team had gradually lost part of themselves in sacrifice of perfection, the cause, loyalty to the chef, you name it. She was just doing her job and then clocking out. She had the balance that was stolen from them.

The reason why Felicity got screwed over by the student loans question is because student loans are infamous in the U.S. It takes YEARS for graduates to pay off their loans. So her saying she doesn't have student loans means she's rich enough to not worry about having to pay it off.

@@readwithpattie4804 As you said, it's not her fault she was born into wealth, but she still chose to steal from John Leguizamo even though she was financially stable. Brown University (where she is from) is still an Ivy League school, *and* she was invited to the restaurant. Margot/Erin was the only guest who wasn't. Her and Leguizamo's reason for being there is because Julian Slowik (for all his somewhat understandable vendettas against the rest of the guests) is petty. Slowik thought he could give Felicity a chance to join his team (because she was Leguizamo's assistant, which made Slowik question if she was part of the working class) right until the student loans question. Edit: I don't mean to be inflammatory, I'm just trying to explain myself

@@bleepbloop8081 nope. She wasn’t invited, John was and she was his plus one because the restaurant doesn’t allow solo guest, that’s why her name was on the reservation. That’s why and she Margot were the only guest that didn’t have anything on the taco because chef didn’t know much about them. Her stealing from John is not an indication of anything other than she probably might have needed it. She didn’t steal anything big enough to cause a dent in his net worth. Brown is an Ivy League that many underprivileged people are lucky enough to get into, it doesn’t all of a sudden make them privileged. My take on this is that chef killing that girl because of her wealth whilst being oblivious to the fact that she has none is proof that he is the pretentiousness he killed them for

The chef wasn’t cooking out of love anymore and he hated himself because of it 🤷🏾‍♀️ it was all about being exclusive (with spectacle) and looking for the rarest things to makes for people who couldn’t even do half of half he’s capable of, instead of cooking good food to enjoy. Honestly when you see big chefs today they always get excited when it’s time to cook basic food for “basic” people

The behind the scenes for the dance sequence is what made me watch Last Night in Soho because I was so amazed that's how they filmed it and I had to see the rest. Despite the horror aspect of it, the underlying themes of the story are very sad when you step back so I don't blame you for tearing up. 😭 The only horror to make me cry was probably Hereditary and that was only because Toni Collette is a great actress who serves like the rent is due in the morning.

Why do i feel like he put some of that cured meat in her burger and poisoned her 🤔why would they show that meat scene if it didn’t serve a purpose, lowkey feel like she didn’t get out alive.

Doubtful from my POV: 1. We would have gotten a menu card, like we have for all the other courses, listing all the ingredients. This is "just a well-made cheeseburger". 2. He promised her a traditional cheeseburger, as good as the one cheap ones her family could barely afford. This wouldn't include poison. 3. That cheap cheeseburger wouldn't have included that expensive, cured meat.
