12:03 It is a weird interaction, but in my opinion it was because the father was right there, it was a move to show dominance how he was so much powerful than him being the father. Like "Its your daughter but if I say you would never hit her again"

He's commonly known as the method actor to all method actors. The only one who comes close is Christian Bale for the way he transforms his body for roles. DDL transforms his body, his accent, his posture and even certain little body movements. It's so weird hearing his natural English accent.

@NostalgiNorden well yes, I didn't want to give out too much information to people who've never heard of it lol. For me the book is far superior, the focus on the son tells a much fuller story. The newer editions of oil are now called "oil(there will be blood)" which is pretty sad, not sure Upton Sinclair would like that

COMPLETELY different movie, and a GIANT stacked cast. WILD movie, a total party of a movie. HIGHLY recommending "Boogie Nights", you'd KILL on "Boogie Nights". Takes place in the 70s-early 80s Los Angeles porn scene. That is a MUST see.

It’s one “mistake” was being made in the same year as No Country For Old Men. It would’ve been a lock for Best Picture otherwise. For them to have been made at the same time, so close to one another that the flaming derrick scene caused production delays on the NCFOM set is amazing. Magic was being made in the hills of Marfa that summer.

Dude, I got CHILLS when you started clapping at the end! We know how you feel though! And he's BRITISH!!! (so is the guy who plays his main assistant. Those Brits can pull off American accents, jeez!). Don't feel bad, MOST of us were confused about Paul Dano playing both parts of the twins. He was only supposed to do the small part in the beginning, but the other actor dropped out and he took over as Eli with only two days notice! Every time I see this movie, I just think "this poor guy is winging it, he's acting completely on instinct......and in a period piece! In a movie that he would have done tons of research for, like he would later do for stuff like "12 Years A Slave" or playing Brian Wilson in "Love And Mercy". The kid was fantastic. If this is your first Daniel Day Lewis film, you really should watch more asap. You will quickly realize that Daniel Day Lewis is not one of these actors that plays himself in his movies. Think about Anthony Hopkins, Robert Deniro, Al Pachino, Denzel, Tom Hanks....... these are all phenomenal actors. But you still pretty much know what you're going to get from them (in my opinion). Daniel Day Lewis was not Daniel Day Lewis in this movie at all. He was 100% Daniel Plainview. The mannerisms, the accent, the depth of his voice, the way his body moved in "There Will Be Blood", you will not see or hear in any of his other films. He completely transforms for each of his roles. The only other actor that I would put on the level of Daniel Day Lewis is Gary Oldman. Anyway, if you have not already seen them, I would highly recommend reacting to "Last of the Mohicans" and "Lincoln" as soon as you can. His performance in "Gangs of New York" is unbelievably good but Leonardo and Cameron Diaz ruined that movie in my opinion.
