DEUS II we move between different programs for the beach with slightly modified profile settings.
Mostly personal preferences to sound, reactivity, etc. But any of the default profiles will do you well!
Both Minelab detectors are mostly stock setting with all metal usually turned on. We tend to dig most everything and show what we feel are the most interesting digs.
MERCH - OUR METAL DETECTING EQUIPMENT
You can't go wrong with either of the Metal Detectors we use on the beaches of Florida or anywhere!

First time watching your videos. Here are a few tricks. 1) There are three lengths of antenna wires. Get the medium length one and run it inside the shaft. Drill a small hole through the top of the plastic mount, and poke the antenna wire through. It doesn’t need to even touch the remote, except possibly if it is totally submerged under water. 2) Save a custom Beach Sensitive mode and custom Deep High Conductor (DHC) mode next to each other. If you have an iffy signal or a bottle cap number (here they’re mid 60s and mid 70s) flip to DHC. If the VDI number changes by around 10, it’s a bottle cap or other iron.

Hey Ken! Thanks for the tips and watching! I have 2 antenna wires right (the black stiff one and the longer copper strand one) now and I thought it would make more sense to be in the stem rather than wrapped. Have seen it on someones YT as you describe! Will have to try that out! Learning a lot. Diving program is great in the surf. Found 2 rings with it! (upcoming video soon). Beach P I've tried more recently and really like that one. Found a lot of stuff yesterday. But I'll tweak out a couple of customs like you suggest and try those out. Written review will be posted on our website later tomorrow. Been sticking to the Beach programs mostly, but DHC could prove good like you've stated! Thanks much! Cheers!

Hey Scott and Terry I do think that the two are one of my favorites to watch KZfaq and I do watch a good amount of content, I would like to produce so myself and have recorded a bit but lack the knowledge of how to edit and upload or download and the set up of a channel but have not given up on it yet.Both of you do well, but I must say that your coverage on the XP Deus has been very good and might I say that it amost made me feel like I might want to try one out but we will see about that. Keep on swinging and make it fun and Happy Hunting 🙂👍..

Thanks Martin! Don't buy the DEUS II on my limited experience. It's at least a $1500 investment to do it right. We're not experts yet! Getting there! If nothing else I hope our videos entertain! The DEUS II is very complex, but learning more each day! To be fair, I'd need to do a better in-depth, deep dive and unbiased as possible comparison of several of the Metal Detectors in this same class. Minelab Manticore is one, Nokta Legend is another. Check out iratemetaldetectors.com. Merrill is one of the two XP Ambassadors creator of that site. Gary is the 1st XP Ambassador. His channel is "The metal detecting skill school" and master of the DEUS II. Then there's the XP Metal Detecting YT channel. As for creating your own productions. Need help? It's really not that hard to do for YT. My degrees are in Broadcasting/TV/Film and Art (these YT videos don't do justice to my Pro work), web programmer, 3D, etc. Techno dude type. You can find my contact info under the "Welcome To.." section at top. -Scott

Really good informative video but I think I will stick with my equinox 800. I don't like the readout or the tones on the deuce 11
@TheDetectingDuo
@TheDetectingDuo 7 ай бұрын
Hey Andy, Yes I like the tones on bot the Vanquish and Nox detectors. First the external speaker on the DEUS II sounds a bit different than in the headphones. The DEUS II PCM tones are funky but can tell you a lot about the item you are digging, depth, size, etc.. Shaped to the point you don't see the target IDs. However, if you switch into the Square or High Square tones (which I do later and on the next videos coming soon) you'll find you can get much closer to the same sound as a NOX. I now prefer the High Square tones as they are more what I'm used to, too! And to make it even sweeter, you can chose 2, 3, 4, 5 or multi-tones. So you can have each ID as a particular frequency. You can also adjust the pitch of a frequency. So a plethora of options. The other thing to note is that the DEUS II has a much faster recovery and the frequencies being used for detecting can alter that sound too. The sounds don't sing out as long (it can) but by default will be quick, recover quickly to find or better pinpoint the target you are looking for. If I recall, the NOX 900 has 1, 2, 5 and all tones available. And a certain amount of pitch adjustment. So it just boils down to getting used to what you hear. Not saying one detectors sounds are better than the other, but you do have options! Cheers!

The coil looks backwards
@TheDetectingDuo
@TheDetectingDuo 7 ай бұрын
It is, I was aware of it but left it that way as a rookie mistake - but not really. There's nothing technically wrong with having the coil round the other way. It just changes the balance center of gravity. And could change where the tip of coil pinpointing occurs.

How heavy is swinging the coil with all the elecronics and batteries inside. Also how long does a charge last? Oh and lol the backwards coil gave me a laugh 😂 Thanks for the review
@TheDetectingDuo
@TheDetectingDuo 7 ай бұрын
Thanks much! Remember, We're not experts on this detector yet. So all subjective! The DEUS II as you saw there with the 11" coil weighs in at about~2.5 lbs, or ~1133 grams. Compare to my Equinox 600 which weighs in at about ~2.9lbs or 1332 grams. So the DEUS II is a tad lighter. Seems to have really good economics. It's not perfect for sure! The Vanquish 540 that Terri uses weighs in at ~2.8 lbs but seem more coil heavy. Most detectors, the coil is the heavy part. It's also about balance. Seems I can swing longer (3 hrs) on one arm with the DEUS II, but need to switch with the NOX after every 45 minutes or so. It's all subjective and to my ways. Batter life is, on average for the DEUS specs in at, Remote Control up to 25H - Headphones up to 17H - Coil up to 20H depending on programs and frequencies. Use only lower frequencies and coil time goes down a bit. Use more than one audio source (headphones and speakers like I do) and Remote Control goes down a bit. Quick recharge time is about 3 hours. Compare that to the NOX 600 which takes 7 hours. After a couple of years, it's possible to replace the rechargeable batteries when they start to diminish. Based upon our use out on the beach, switching programs which change frequencies used, I was still at full bars after 6 hours. Still good to charge after every hunt. Don't want the coil to die out before the remote! I knew the coil was on backwards when we arrived at the beach. But left it that way to see who complains and for fun. Really, it doesn't matter on most detectors which way round it is. It can affect pinpointing if you're swinging and backing off to pinpoint the object at the tip of the coil. Some hardcore people will argue that. But technically, it only changes some dynamics. Hope that helps some!

I’m finding it hard to believe you put the coil on backwards, by accident. You’ve never watched an XP vid or two? You’re an experienced Detectorist familiar with detectors. Maybe why XP sent you a unit. This experience is not adding up and I am sure XP did not appreciate that “beginner” move. Nice beach vid. XPD2 is good on the beach.

I honestly did mount the coil, as one believes, is wrong way round. I noticed it when we got to the beach but left it to try and (not clearly) show that it doesn't matter, and poke fun at the situation. But, please understand that the orientation of the coil really doesn't matter - it's not changing the electrical conductivity of the coil. What could matter is that if you are trying to use the tip of the coil as the pinpoint location, then that could be off a tad. It also does change the center of balance a bit. XP trusted us to use and test the DEUS II. Our rep knows what we've been doing. Our upcoming videos will show that off better as we improve and gain knowledge of how it works. I'll work more at being a proper influencer in these testing scenarios and less of an entertainer if that suits you. Cheers!

Coil is backwards.....geez

@TheDetectingDuo 7 ай бұрын
Ha! Yes, and no! The orientation of the coil doesn't matter. I knew the error, but left it that way to try and prove a point and poke fun at my mistake. (Sorry I wasn't clear enough in the video.) Regardless going forward I'll be more clear when I do silly things. Thanks!

The Deus machina is very sensitive and is picking up both ur scoop and the Vanquish, which is throwing off ur target numbers...fyi...
@TheDetectingDuo
@TheDetectingDuo 7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, I've been figuring that out. Even during swings, too far toward the scoop side can give false signals. Been adjusting for that. And yes, other detectors too close can interfere with each other. Noted that on occasions, if I find a good conductor, it can sometimes cause the vanquish to get a false signal and vis-versa. Cheers!

@@chrisernest3222 I agree on Merrill as an expert - He's XP latest Ambassador. For best info, the XP Detecting Channel and then don't forget Ambassador #1 - Gary! The metal detecting skill school. His information is tops! We watch the others you mentioned and a LOT of others. There is an overload of pseudo claimed experts out there and a lot of misconception. Calabash Digger Adventures is one good tester with great insight. We're not claiming to be experts(yet), but currently presenting as entertainment and hopefully some enlightening insights based upon our experience on the beach. Beach detecting changes every time you go out. You can hit one are one day, find nothing, go back the next and find tons (we've done it). Just trying to have fun and allow others to join in. Cheers!

@@idigdaytona4478 Probably true! Won't know until I get one... The DEUS II does beat the Equinox 600 for many areas - No EMI issue at all, super fast recovery, endless configuration, and more. It's a bit quirky, but aren't they all? Working to get Merrill and Gary level expertise on it. Will just take time!
