The original goal of Shanghai Co-Operation Organisation (SCO) was to contain Religious Extremists and Separatists in the region, and for last 21 years, its purpose has been achieved that much less incidents took place in the region. Its not an Economic oganistion, nor a military organisation, but simply a organisation to maintain regional peace.

Too many members in SCO as well as too many members in BRICS. BRICS should have expanded only to Iran and Saudi Arabia, and only Thailand (and maybe Egypt) should have been brought in the second phase. There is no need to over expand. Finally, Indian diplomats have dropped obsessively complaining about the pathetic puny Pakistan, and now with savvy and determination are taking on China, which has always been the real rival and security threat to India. Forget border skirmishes, India must focus on rapidly growing its GDP, technological prowess, widespread infrastructure with top priority to nuclear energy, world class factories/manufacturing, military and human capital (education and technical training of people) .. areas where it has really fallen way behind China.
