I had it that the differentiation is with regards to future outlook... Printing of money is the result of the outlook. I.e hawks are expecting a positive outcome in economy and therefore no need to print money... Doves are scared and concerned about the future and therefore they want to print more money. Thus it is not because they want to print money that they are seen as doves but because of their fear of future growth...similar to you example in war time...doves afraid of war and walks positive on war... Love your work :) ps who needs a drink?
