Adding an -L at the end is a classic suffix to make things cuter. For example Mädel from Magd. It's like adding -erl, -erle, -lein, -line, -chen or any other thing like that. So Fischl is just Cute Fish

@@SPEEDY4004 It is, her real name is Amy. Fischl is the "Prinzessin der Verurteilung" from the book she read while her parents were out. It doesn't explain the name. But why would it be weird? Putting an -L at the end is a pretty normal thing to do, especially in southwest Germany.

(or even albedo's title kreideprinz) all german has some reason bein it or some "logical" connection like the contents of a storybook - so maybe the origins of "fishl" are in the same book amy read mfg Olli
