Oh mate same. I watched his carp fishing tutorial so I brought his set up with the rigs and I brought myself a decent rod and reel. Went with a camping chair and a lunch box as my tackle box (whick only had the rest of my fishing wire in it 😂) and all I caught was very small roach, a lot of them. In the process of getting more gear and learning a bit more. I might have gone to the wrong lake to catch a carp the first time. So wish me luck on my second adventure 😂

As a new-ish fisherman, I’ve got most of the basic gear for float fishing now and typically catching 4-8lb carp (very happy). I do want to venture onto bigger lakes - but I don’t think my equipment will be sufficient. Are you guys looking to do a video on what to look out for with rods and reels, because it’s hard to find useful information on what to look out for..

I've never used zigs, normally I opt for a big heavy self weighted pellet waggler in those situations, works with hair rig and carp self hook providing the waggler is heavy enough and hook is sharp, I chuck it out and pop it on the bite alarm, but it works best with a big worm straight on the hook rather than hair rig.

I have your book, Simple Fishing Guidebook, which is very informative, but I am finding it hard to learn how to tie knots and to use various items like Swivels, and all the different attachments to fix things to my line. Do you intend to publish a book purely on how to tie and use such things, or have you already published one. I found loads on this KZfaq of yours but can’t be watching my iPad while fishing. I need a book where everything is in one place such as this brilliant book of yours. Thankyou.

Hello Carl, I have never used a Chod Rig before. If I was to use it, once casted out, do you wind back to keep a tight line, or would that mean the pop up would always go too high, so should the line be slack? I’m a total novice so please forgive me if this should be an obvious answer. Thank you.

Hi i bought a fishing rod for carp on a smaler lake . Its not tiny but its not massiv . The rod has almost no bend and even when i have my 112g weight on it it only bends a bit. Is that bad . They laght aufter my rod and i was feeling bad . They sad 112 g is way to my and my rod that dont bend is cheap . Is it bad if i dont bend
@fishingtutorials
@fishingtutorials 8 ай бұрын
Ideally a rod will bend to help with casting and landing fish. A stiff rod will be good for casting far, with heavy weights or reeling in heavy fish! You might find small fish come off the hook a bit if the rod doesn't bend to absorb the lunges during the fight though!

finding carp in rivers and streams can be a bit more challenging but is possible :) Look for slower moving water as carp prefer this, deep slow stretches, back channels and slack areas are good :) Find areas with over hanging/ fallen trees, weeds and lily pads as they could hold fish. It's good to know that not all rivers have a population of carp so it's always good to see if you can find out if anyone has ever caught them from the river/stream you're interested in. That said it's fun to have a go anyway if you notice the rivers has ideal carpy areas because you never know!
