I love his reasoning why submarines are the only way to fight a kraken. The kraken's eyes are better than sonar, so ships can't detect it before it detects the ship. Subs on the other hand can detect the kraken first because they have echolocation aka sonar.

If I remember, the original, real stories of the kraken estimated it to be between 14-16 meters, and the colossal squid is 13-15 meters So they got things wrong on how we might find a huge, larger squid than the colossal squid (as it might be legitimate it's a normal colossal squid, or the kraken is smaller or the same size) and the fact that old sailor stories said it was 5000 ft

@chtholly8084
@chtholly8084 2 жыл бұрын
@@glauberglousger6643 The Polynesians did make it to the actual Americas multiple times well before Europeans did, but they were never gonna be large-scale colonisers. They lacked the population and industrial might to build and sustain large settlements, and when it came to military technology they were arguably more primitive than the American Natives they came into contact with. At best you would've seen some sort of primitive Carthage-like system where they set up small trading posts all along the West Coast, which would then have easily been conquered and assimilated by the arriving Europeans/Asians
@KestrelDC
@KestrelDC 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah and they still had discovered other continents just in general way before then. Like…. Columbus wound up in the Americas because he was sailing for India for spices just taking a different route than usual and instead encountered the Americas Europe didn’t yet know of and assumed he’d reached India, hence him dubbing aboriginal people Indians. So they very much knew at least some other continents already and Columbus wouldn’t even have been sailing otherwise.

You should look into “pop bottle ecosystems.” There’s this science lab that we would do in middle school where we had to take two 2-liter bottles, cut them up, and make an ecosystem. The bottom half would have plants and multiple small fish staying in around a liter of water. The top half had plants and a bunch of crickets. The idea was that it would show you how everything in the ecosystem interacts and holds each other up. I looked up the project to see what type of fish they might have used at my school and I found a tutorial where they literally had 2 goldfish in under a liter of water. It’s not ethical to keep them there for any amount of time but there was no warning to give the fish a proper tank once the experiment is over so it seemed like it was implying that you can just keep it there as a permanent tank.

Alright so I decided to do some research on the kraken on the actual size estimate, cause sometimes people can butcher the actual size estimate. So I decided to go an read to the oldest source. The video actually underestimated it’s actually size, from the research I scrounged up on the kraken. It’s true size is 2.5 kilometers, putting that to miles, thats 1.553 miles. That’s the size of an island. It legit something of impossible size, the only way this creature can exist is only in fantasy. If such a thing were to exist it would be dead, because there not enough biomass to support it. Hell it wouldn’t even support an entire species Kraken, it makes you wonder why such a creature would even ships holding people because that’s basically a small snack.

5:18 one kraken would be able to do that though since they have several tentacles. Also if the kraken is like a squid it would have a beak capable of piercing the hull. 5:56 it has been proven that the Vikings discovered the americas first. Most likely scenario is the Americas would be settled by the Vikings. 8:00 the depth of the water underneath the golden gate is 377 feet

If the kraken existed, wouldn’t the environment have already adapted to its existence for the kraken to exist? So we wouldn’t have any reason to suddenly have less fish. Or are we talking about a kraken from another universe suddenly appear in the current, krakenless ecosystem?
