FISHER PH-480 Boombox Cassette Deck Belts Replacement Explained

This video will show you how I replaced 3 drive belts on the FISHER PH-480 cassette deck. It has 3 drive belts, and one of them is located underneath the moving panel which is a tricky place. So if you need help to replace the belts on PH-480, this video is for you. Enjoy!!

Unbelievable! I just bought a Fisher cassette deck (model CR-125) yesterday from 1983. It has the EXACT same mechanism inside. It also needs new belts. I can't believe you uploaded this video today. What a coincidence. I'm definitely saving this video because I know I'll need it for reference! Thank you!

You would better locate the FM module and check each of the electrolytic parts one by one. Yesterday I had read the book about how to troubleshooting audio equipment, and the author said one tiny capacitor or transistor affect all the FM radio sound. The book is "Troubleshooting & repairing audio equipment" by Homer L. Davidson. You can buy it on Amazon.

Hi, have on eBay radio "Panasonic RF-1105 LBS" auctioned but the radio has bad reception and "FM" = zero reception, what can it be, which components do I have to renew, can you possibly help me ?

I do not know what is going on your FM tuner since I do not restore the radio tuning system itself. But probably your Radio needs to be adjusted or replaced many electronic component. I hope you will be able to find the solution.

Hi Ted,looks like you have your work cut out there with the tricky repair job of replacing those belts on that cassette deck. It looks like a fair bit of weight with the cassette deck mechanism,I know it would've been built well back in the 80,s for that machine. I've had experience repairing all types of cassette recorders/players,from seperate cassette decks,to a car cassette player,small,portable,cassette tape walkmans,to the all in one unit systems,radio,tape,cd,turntable record player. I've found just as much tricky repair jobs with tape recorders, just like the one you're doing in the video. But at least I have got them working,restored like a new machine altogether. Some of the machines I receive are well look aftered,and after a complete clean up and repair jobs,they do look like new again.

@@teddyhashee No worries my nice friend. As I have a fair few multiple cassette decks that had been given to me for repairs and restoration,and some of these machines are up to 40 years old,and they still work great 2day too,as they have had a lot of tlc maintenance through their lifetime.

@@lowchopr1 I would only charge $20/hour,,,for repair labour work on any particular machine,,,turntable,,,cassette player,,,cd player,,,radio tuner,,,stereo amplifier,,,all in one combination units,,,or seperate,,,regardless the size,,,weight,,etc.

Nice video. Is this the same for the 90 and 92 model? I have both but cassette deck doesn't work. I think its the belts. I will do it by myself nobody wants to help me here in Los Angeles. Thanks
