I know Tristan has said he doesn't consider himself a filmmaker, but the production value of this video is pretty out of this world.

This is probably the purest kind of fishing. Really, really enjoy watching your videos, especially for all the wonderful locations. Unfortunately where i live here in Italy there are no good spots near me.

Well, a 40-minute hike in weeds out about 95% or more of the competition. Beautiful stream, and I'd be happy to settle for that catch rate of pretty nice-sized trout.

Wonderful video and beautiful cutthroats! I went out on my first tenkara fishing expedition yesterday (Croton River in New York) and caught two pretty wild browns (8 inchers) using your Idaho Killer Kabari and materials from your fly tying yarn. Keep up the great work!!

Sweet! In locations like that I'll take a few less catches! Why I don't fish weekends. Not a fan of shoulder to shoulder fishing. 😁. Solitude is important. Plus it gives room for those who can only fish on weekends. I enjoy the drone shots, no doubt! Thanks, Tristan!

Beautiful stream, lovely fish. It never ceases to amaze me, how special these creatures are. How on Earth does a trout even see a tiny, weightless fly in all that turbulence? And your killer kabari was, what, size 12 or so? They'll hit a size 20 - 26 as well!

Very nice! I would like to see more of the flies you use. I know that the “Idaho kebari” is detailed in a tying video; it would be helpful to see it being put to use. But I shouldn’t quibble: great stuff you are doing, even to an old traditionalist!

Yo I hope you see this! I started tenkara style fishing because I needed a more easy to carry fly rod and found you on KZfaq So I more or less started because of you :) I Started with a Goture Red fox 10' and 12' from amazon I only spent $15 on each rod, and they worked well for about a year and a half for Rock bass, Green Sunfish, and Smallmouth bass! They were even able to use Light PVC Floating Line (Though I didn't use a Tapered Tenkara Line with them as i just made mine out of 5' to 6' ft of 20 lb dacron backing a scientific anglers micro swivel and 5' to 8' ft of 4X to 3X tippet.) But after hundreds of fish in the 8" to 14" range and even a few Gar in the 19" 20" range I never broke a tip! Though after a incident with a Bow Fin I broke my first tip and i was absolutely powerless against this thing with a 12' Goture.. After that I went and got my first real Tenkara rod I got the dragontail HELLbender since haveing no power to fight bigger fish was always a problem. The places I fish are all Big Creeks Large and Small Rivers Lakes And Ponds so Big water. Any way what do you think of the Mutant zx380 NIRVANA 370z, HYDRA zx380, Shadowfire 365, and the Mizuchi zx340 rods as a Big fish Tenkara rods?

I really appreciate the arrow marker you’ve added to the strike area. I don’t know if it’s possible. I was wondering if could add a circle marker to the fly, so when it hits the water, it would give a prospective on the casting. Awesome videos please keep them coming.

When you said in the beginning I have to look behind me (for casting purposes), I thought you were looking for bears🤣. Do you ever worry about them? When my girlfriend fishes with me, she always has the bear spray nearby. We have one that visits our yard a few times a year but have yet to see one in our fishing travels, thank God😬.

What a beautiful stream..and you seem to have it all to yourself. I, too, thought that when you turned around to look for trees you were looking for bear. You need to carry bear spray when in the backcountry, and a Gps locator, so that in case you get into trouble you can be located. I and others here, fear for your safety, Bro. I have to say I like the way you handle and release the fish you catch. And you admire them all, big and small, for the jewels they are. you have inspied me to get a Tenkara setup. As a fellow fly fisherman, I have a couple of ideas that may help you...I know that you want to use traditional Kebari flys, but that may be the reason you are picking up the small ones. they're a little more desperate! Have you thought of using Western style nymphs or wetflies? think wetflies would fit in nicely with your technique. Also, since you are usually solo, you need a net with a longer handle. It would give yo that extra bit to pickup the ones that won't come in. Also, try holding the rod out behind you , not just above you, when bringing them to net. It frustrates me to see you struggle when netting a big one.

We LOVED this video. So we subscribed after many years on SUV RVing (main channel). Not fisherman yet but could be with enough of your expertise by watching more. Any reason you never mentioned this channel (or rarely) over on your main channel ? ( also, I hit notification on website, you ever get more overhead gear nets for the SUV back in stock ? ). Thanks wonderful job as always !!!! Tim and Cathy.
