Jimo Solano Guanzon, a young islander from Polopiña, dreams of a future beyond traditional fishing, supported by his parents, Apollo and Juliet. Despite the declining fish catches in their peaceful island village, Jimo joined his father on fishing trips, overcoming seasickness. Education was a challenge for him and his peers, but his determination led him to Concepcion College of Fisheries, where he balanced his studies with fishing to support his family. Initially interested in becoming a policeman, Jimo found his calling in merging law enforcement and fisheries, inspired by his family's sacrifices. His journey underscores the importance of empowering island youth and their potential to shape a sustainable future for their communities.
