Fishing Australian Herring (Tommy Ruff) Streaky Bay Eyre Peninsula. If you are in Streaky Bay Eyre Peninsula, South Australia and love fishing you can catch Australian Herring (Tommy Ruff) easily using a ball float fishing rig with a burley spring and a couple of octopus hooks at Moore's Boat Ramp. We show you in this fishing video us using Gents (maggots), Squid and Tommy Ruff for bait. We caught Australian Herring (Tommy Ruff) and we also caught Weedy Whiting, Zebrafish and a Leather Jacket. This is a beautiful place to fish on a calm night after 4pm.

Also the zebra fish isn’t a zebra fish that’s called a luderick. And the fish that jumped was a snook. They are awesome eating if you crumb them right if you catch them

@@fishingsister You can skin them very easily, sort of like peeling a banana, and they have large bones, if memory serves. Just clean them and then fry them rather than trying to fillet them. It's been a long time since I caught one but most people say that they're good eating.

I live here in streaky and I got to swim in the bioluminescence it was awesome. Me and my grandpa and one of my cousins have heaps of memories there catching gar fish, snook and tommies.

There’s a you tube video of David shielding using maggots catching tommy ruffs ,he also had a berly mix , might worth a look to try other baits as well .👍

Nice quiet and relaxing session after all the winter fishing lately! Time to take it in! Love tommies. Good eating! I have a strong feeling the fish jumping are small snook chasing the baitfish. See it all the time on Yorkes. I catch them using small lures or plastics. Usually baitfish colour or white. Ask the locals as they might have some tips to catch them over there using bait rigs 😊 Keep up the good work guys!

Interesting..will have to look into that! Yes the fish sure felt small after all those fat salmon we've been catching lately lol. Still it is nice to catch something different too and I always enjoy eating Tommies! Have you been getting out fishing much?

Didn’t get too many winter sessions in due to work. We had our annual Marion Bay winter trip which we came home with plenty of Salmon, big Stenhouse tommies and big squid. Looking forward to summer and warmer weather with garfish and crabs! Be interesting to see the summer sessions your way as well 😊

I was watching you using tommies for bait to catch Salmon, definitely the wrong way around. Tommies are underated, we just have to catch them big enough. Love your vids. Thanks Paul

We love to eat Tommy as well. I agree definitely under rated😋. We have started to salt salmon for bait too...works a treat.

I find that mullet strips soaked in fish sauce with a very small triple gang rig is deadly on herring. They also seem to like the bait to be moving ...

It is concentrated fish, fermented for years. I add it to any cheap cooking oil and it's very cheap compared to fish oil from the bait shop.@@fishingsister

I would always recommend autumn but spring would be my second choice. It is an amazing place! You won't regret visiting Streaky. We miss it a lot 😍

Wow that is hard to answer! There's so many...surf fishing is my favourite style of fishing and Eyre Peninsula has been the best for that. Back Beach at Streaky in particular! But then again Kangaroo Island is incredible with its diversity of fishing experiences all so close to each other. I love that place ❤️
