FISHING & CAMPING At A Desert Canal (INSANE)
Today my brother and I went fishing and camping at a canal. Yes you read that right, CAMPING at a canal. Not sure if it's allowed but we didn't have any issues! We caught all kinds of cool fish and the bite was on fire at night. Should we do this more often?

Proof positive that you don’t need a 50k boat, or to spend hundreds on gas, to find and enjoy productive water… think outside the box… but never, NEVER set up a tent; Never grill up some tasty burgers, and never spend the night ANYWHERE in the great outdoors… without beer.

Try using anchovies or sardines for the stripper and sankos for the small mouth or crank baits / jigs

Be dope to see you fish the verde near horseshoe dam or the gila river. You guys took urban camping to a new level! Love it bro 🤙🏼 also pleasant has a ton of stripers if you and your brother want to give it a try. Love seeing people fish in Az helps my home sickness

No beer while camping is crazy. Also I just started fishing more of the canals recently since the grand canal is right behind my house. Didn’t think they had bass bc of the filth in the water, landed some good ones yesterday, used to catch giant grass and commons in mesa canals. Anyways happy fishing, and always leave fisheries cleaner than when we got there! Good shit Porter!

How big do the striped bass get in Arizona? I'm up on the east coast in Canada and get 20-25 inch average. But my buddy caught the record for our province which was 51 inches, and 52 pounds

The state record for Arizona is 67 pounds, but in the canals I fished in this video they don’t get very big at all. The big ones come from the big lakes here. Thanks for watching!

Brother i enjoy your vids, but what canal were you fishing and where. i would love to do some canal fishing in Phoenix. the closest roads and cross streets would help

I appreciate it! Sorry but I can’t give this spot out. It is pretty far from Phoenix though, I would recommend the Arizona canal and some of the ones that run through Scottsdale for some nice canal fishing. The ones in Scottsdale have stripers too. Thanks for watching!

Ive been meaning to catch one of these bad boys! Ive heard kd them in canals and fish the canals often. Just haven't caught one. Are the stripers specific to just that spot?

They’re out there! And nope, occasionally people catch them out of just about every canal but the most plenty full population from what I’ve seen is in the Scottsdale area and Tempe area. Give it a shot!

are those pretty average size for stripers in arizona?

Not at all, the state record in Arizona is 67 pounds. All of these were about a pound or so. Canals typically don’t have very big stripers especially this one so for the location they were pretty average but small for Arizona. Thanks for watching!

As you’ve just witnessed worms seemed to kill it at this particular canal. Lipless crank baits if you’re fishing lures, worms and anchovies work great for stripers if you’re bait fishing. Good luck!
