What’s a good rod and reel set up for the spillway?

I run a penn slammer 5500 with 30lb braid and 40 lb leader on a 8' Shimano Teramar. But I'd say 4k and up reel...you really want a rod with some backbone and power too be able to get those fish away from the structure. Hope this helps. Tight lines man!

South Florida.. google maps my friend..with all this rain recently the spills have been loaded with fish!!!

@@Zyl0n_yt the canals running up to most spills are man made. So, zoom out on maps and look for straight canals. Once you see one zoom in and follow that canal. If your looking around South Florida chances are you will find a spillway.
