Join Olive and I on this beautiful October morning swinging fly's for Brown Trout on the Cornwallis River. Located in the Annapolis valley, near the Apple tree capital of this beautiful Province. Footage shot in Oct of 2021.
The Cornwallis river is tidal water (although you still require a general license to fish here) and fluctuates as the Atlantic Ocean's tide moves every 6hrs. Today the tide was almost fully out which resulted in little action. The local scenery and Fall colors made up for what little happened in the river!
Watch along and enjoy as we'll experience all of natures glory and witness treasures to remember. Enjoy and please don't forget to Like, Comment, and Subscribe for notice of additional uploads to come.

The drone footage shows the flood plain and riparian zone of this river in perfect context. Very typical of rivers in mainland NS.

Great video! I am from Kentville and have not had much luck on the fly on the Cornwallis. Are you on the East side of Lovett (Kentville side) or is this heading down the river on the west side? Thanks!

Hey, where and when would you recommend a new fly fisherman go to target trout and salmon around and outside of halifax?

Hey! Brook Trout can be found in almost every lake River and tributary there of in the province. I'd now recommend starting up in the Spring (April 1st) as the brook trout season in the province is over. (End sept) Brown trout can br tgt'd in mgmt areas throughout the province until end Oct. Check the book for ur area. Now for Salmon, there are only 3 rivers in the province and their tributaries u can legally tgt them. Phillip river (pictou) region, Margaree River (CB) and the North river (CB North region). Their seasons start in Mid May and beg June and all end in end Oct. Go for the spring and fall runs. Avoid the summer as the conditions are too warm for them.

I park off the road at the bridge on Lovett road. Then walk along the river and fish what's interesting. They're in there and hit hard when they're active. Mostly at night!
