After fishing Quarry Lakes for Mt. Lassen Trout, we finally caught some. However, it's not that easy. Watch how we fail for the most part and also how we managed to catch a few. An Anglers Lifestyle Moment.

This season has been tough for me too. The lake is extremely pressured with so many anglers. Lakes are pretty much fished out in 3 days. If not, those fish see so much bait and lures thrown at them all day making them really finicky when sight fishing.

Indeed. Poor fish. Poor us. Once parks start collecting fees, it may reduce the pressure a little bit. Thanks for watching.

You need to repeatedly probe certain areas of Quarry in order to get some credible, reliable fishing results. It took me 6 weeks to figure things out and unfortunately, that will change as soon as water levels go up and a different group of fish are planted. Thanks for watching.

That first trout you caught was big. Glad you and your wife were able to fish again, but looked like a lot of people out there as well. Any issues with people fishing too close, or not social distancing? Thanks for the vlog.

Anglers are wearing masks when they are shoulder to shoulder. Otherwise, separated 6 ft or more, we don't. When we walk by each other, we mask up as well. There's plenty of fish to go around so come out and fish with us. Thanks for watching.

Big fish you got! I fish on the cove with bait and have pretty good luck. Something I use and I noticed you don’t is: a treble hook... give it a try you might have a better chance with the fish staying on. Either way good job!

My homie said not to use a weighted indicator because they feel tension on the line that's why they don't commit to biting
@anglerslifestyle4321
@anglerslifestyle4321 3 жыл бұрын
My bobber is super small so line tension is minimal. Similarly, my baitfeeder drag is at it's lowest setting. So bobber is for visual indication only while baitfeeder is for audible while keeping minimal tension. When bait is swallowed, both indicators are negligible to a big fish. But if they are simply nibbling, they will strip that bait on a single hook. That's the fun of it. Someone recommended to use treble hooks instead but it's hard to remove that hook if the fish swallows it. If your rod is an ultra light, it's best to use a bell on the tip and keep a slack line. This setup requires watching the rod and line like a hawk. Thanks for watching.
@scratcherfever6316

Hey Carlos! I’d recommend setting the hook in an upward motion instead of side ways. You’d have a higher hookup ratio

I used to catch fish in the East Bay Lakes all the time and I've been getting skunked in the past 8 times I tried. I think it is partially due to the lake being pressured too much since they do not collect fees. By the way, what kind of leader line are you using? I use 6 lbs test and I'm wondering if I should downsize it a bit. Thanks for the video and hope to see you in person sometime soon. Cheers!
@anglerslifestyle4321
@anglerslifestyle4321 3 жыл бұрын
24 inch leaders are 6lb and 36-46 inch leaders are 4 lbs. I use Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon for my leader line. Yes, lake pressure is tough on the fish but that will change since fees will be collected soon. Thanks for watching.

You have a great channel. The fact that you’re super friendly is dope. How far do you cast your bait? If you don’t mind me asking
@anglerslifestyle4321
@anglerslifestyle4321 3 жыл бұрын
Observe the incline of the shore behind you. If it's steep, then cast no more than 5-10 yards. With a 24 inch leader, that positions your bait at a good strike zone for fish cruising the area. And if they like your bait, hold on to your line just like in one of my video clip. I was still adjusting the bobber when it removed the slack line bringing the bait closer to their strike zone. I hope you saw that part. Thank you for watching.

@@raidernat10n48 Usually after a few methodical bait changes, it could be a sign that fish aren't there at all. 4 hours is my tolerance for a location.

Another great video! I’m in Fresno and would like to fish some of the lakes you fish. On film they appear to be handicap accessible which lake would you consider for someone with Parkinson’s disease?
@anglerslifestyle4321
@anglerslifestyle4321 3 жыл бұрын
Quarry lakes has a nice ADA pier that's accessible from the parking lot. Lake Chabot has a wooden handicap dock. Don Castro also has a wooden dock. I don't fish Del Valle enough to remember if they have a dock. Sandy Wool has a couple of concrete docks that are accessible through the parking lot. I can't recommend Shadow Cliffs at the moment because their docks don't have any railing plus because water level is low, the dock is angled steep. So yes, you have a lot of handicap accessible options here. Hopefully you can visit any of our lakes especially that there are plenty of planted fish. Thanks for watching.
