Fishing for monster fish in the wilderness of Africa. We catch large Catfish, Smallmouth & Largemouth Yellowfish in one of the Wildest Rivers using both conventional and fly fishing techniques. We are excited to take you back to 2007 where we visited the Lower Orange River with some friends. We show you one of the hidden places of Southern Africa which to us is one of the most scenic. We pitched up camp and explored the area, fishing for the indigenous Smallmouth and Largemouth Yellowfish on fly, as well as target the monster Sharptooth Catfish only a few have had the privilege of catching/seeing. We bring back films of the 90's where we explored the river with custom built Wilderness Rafts and fished in places where only a few have been, because of the rugged terrain that you can only access with rafts. We are surrounded by rock desert on either sides of the river and temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius in the summer.
Thanks for Watching! We are working hard on the next episode!!

@@JoesCamera Yes i wish there was a way to stop the locals from taking the small and baby Largemouth Yellowfish, the first and last big one i caught was back in 2010 and it was a 6kg and i know for a fact they were bigger and there was a lot more when i was little so maybe its wrong to blame the locals because its a food source for them but its sad to see the effects 😔

With all due respect to Pete’s Whiskers, are you joking? The Vaal river catfish are like gold fish compared to the orange river cats. When Catfish Joe took me there on 3 different occasions the small ones we were catching were 20 kgs. I guess our biggest mistake was underestimating the size and power of the fish in the Orange. There were occasions that we got takes on 200 kg leader that was smashed. I would highly recommend that you pay Joe to guide you. You will be gobsmacked by what’s out there. Take a penn international 50 visx reel loaded for marlin. My guess would be the catfish win every time. They are huge 60-80 kg minimum. Stop playing in Vereeniging and go to the orange river. For PETES SAKE!
