I was in search of a mussel cracker, also known as a brusher in certain part of South Africa. Unfortunately I could not get one but I thought I would share some tips with you guys by showing you a bait demo, discussing my tackle of choice as well as reading the water.

Rod: Assassin Horizon Heavy 15ft HXL
Reel: Shimano Twinpower 10 000 with 14 000 spool
Braid: 50ln JDB Ultrta tough
Braided leader: 120lb JDB 8x
Swivels: Japan poer swivel no. 2
Hook trace: Kingfisher leader 1mm
Hook: 8/0 BKK inline

Always enjoy watching your vids even though you some times don't catch any fish. That is all part of fishing. You win some and you lose some. Watching your rigs I try them here in England. And they work a treat. Where ever you fish different countries have different types of rigs. It's great to experiment. What rigs we use in England might work in South Africa and your set up in England. Keep those vids coming. Happy New year from England 🎣🎣👍

awesome video man and great tips and tricks definately will be using some of those tricks to try and land a snapper. its the closets thing we have to a mussel cracker in nz all the details including the small ones really helped. bait presentation was great too

Love catching Crackers, I seem to catch them when fishing for Blues, caught all my Crackers on a 1/0 hook, lucky I guess. Caught a nice one last weekend , around 10kg. Lost another one a few casts later.

Still one of the best tasting fish available along the SA coast...I can still taste that first bite of a Muscle Cracker served off the Braai back when I was a kid and holidaying at my aunt and uncle`s place in Port Alfred in the late 80`s...

I just wanted to know if you could do a video on the braid on your reels that you use, like what backing, topshot and leader do you use? And do we have to use backing? And can it be a mono or braid backing?

Please give good detail of where shops in towns are and where good fishing sites are.pin drops could be beneficial as us inlanders dont have that info.would be great

I'm wondering, what is your dingle dangle made of? Wire? Or plastic? I want to use the technique to fish for Halibut from shore in Alaska this spring. We normally fish for this species from a boat but I often get seasick. We have had some success the past few years off the beach.

Hi, yes they ship all over. They often ship to Aus. I use those boots all over except on the sand of course.
