Brilliant episode! I just hope there is an episode where you use an inline free running feeder. I think you'd see more movement on the tip with that. Plus many fisheries around my area don't allow elasticated feeders, and would just be interested to see. Awesome though really enjoyed watching.

These video's echo many of the aspects of the previous Korda underwater series. It reinforces that we all get 'done' a lot and see no indications on the 'tip' or buzzers. It amplifies the fact that you rig should be able to 'reset' itself. Yes, the wafter looks a little unnatural on occasions, but it does 'reset' the hooklink and rig if its picked up and dropped. Another point is that what we do with the rod and reel moves the feeder a lot, but when the fish moves the feeder it does not show on the rod tip. I guess that is because its not a 'running rig' and has no heavy pivot point to keep the line tight, this allows the feeder to be dragged across the bottom without any indications. The only way to counter this would be a very heavy feeder (3oz+) that really drives the hook in hard and makes the fish 'bolt' or maybe the Guru boys could try a 'running' feeder rather than the X-Safe stem. As anglers we like to think of ourselves as 'snipers', but we cannot see wants going underwater. So we are firing into the dark. Unless the rig is good at resetting itself all you get is one shot. Really we should think of ourselves as 'machine gunners' firing into the night. Ensuring that your rig resets every time is like firing lots of bullets rather than thinking your one well aimed shot is going to do the job.

Brilliant absolutely brilliant answers a lot of questions I wouldn't have believed if someone had told me how long it takes for the tip to move when fish pick the hookbait up. This does prove switching hookbait is essential I do put some free hookbaits in my feed think it makes the fish less spooky. Amazing stuff gents thanks a lot be interesting to see other methods too. 👍

It's interesting to see how spooky the fish were when the wafter was actually wafting. When the hookbait was stationary, due to the hooklength being buried in the feeder, the carp were more confident. When the hookbait wafted about unnaturally they were so spooky. Unbelievable footage Guru. Well done.

Have to say guys , these have been (watched both) absolutely fantastic viewing! Not only for the lessons learned, but the edge of the seat drama. The 2" hook length was a big surprise and for one looking at the current "EMBED MAP" feeder, if the hook bait retention within the feeder isn't the most critical aspect 🤔. On a side note; I know there's talk about televising our sport, if you could have underwater (yes I know the logistics would make it very difficult) you'd be on to a winner! Love the passion, giddiness and presentation of the vlog...... Need more 😬

Brilliant watch but my thoughts are, in a normal fishing situation, we are clueless to what is actually going on beneath the surface so I will continue to fish as I always have. I will make changes as I see fit based on what I ‘assume’ is happening and that is all I can do. If it works great, if it doesn’t I will make further tweaks until it does. Without seeing what is actually happening, that is the best I can do. True there are things to take on board from these videos but for every change there is a new problem and so it goes on. As a carp angler as well as a match angler I have watched numerous Korda Underwater videos and come to the same conclusion; there are more questions than answers! Fish what you are confident in, be proactive and enjoy. Great viewing though and very interesting but the elephant in the room is this is only one set of conditions in one swim on one lake. Truth is, unless we ever get to a situation where we can watch every cast we make, in which case I’m out, we will never know what is really happening which is what makes fishing so fascinating and the reason why we love it 😁

FYI blue light (higher frequency, shorter wavelength) penetrates water to greater depths. Red light (lower frequency, longer wavelength) gets absorbed more quickly by water and does not penetrate so deep. But at 12 feet there is still plenty of red light around so pink/orange baits stand out well against the yellow/green background colour (which is caused by algae in the water reflecting those colours/frequencies around a lot). From a carp angler who used to be a scuba diver...

I used to be a flyfishing guide here in Bristish Columbia, Canada. You might want to think more about what the fish see vs. what you see. Colour may not be as relevant as the UV spectrum that you don't see with human eyes and I am convinced from years of fishing at depth with flies that a bait that gives off strong UV have a big impact in low visability water and at depth beyond sunlight penetration. You can use a simple black light to see what the UV signature is.

For something like this I'd always use a short bit of braid anyone got any good reasons that he sticks to mono on this setup. Braid seems to have a lot of advantages when fished short and with tangles eliminated with the plugged into feeder element.

For myself personally I have a lot of success with Marine Halibut groundbait mixed with anything that matches the water.. It'd be interesting to see how more confidently they feed with their senses than their sight? I believe they'd be less suspicious of a dark hookbait. Maybe one cast with the hybrid and alternate with a clipped up bomb with the next cast and back and forth between the two? Not to see which one is best, but to catch those more bruttier Carp with their knickers down.... They've seen it all before and know to avoid anything too bright!! But still have the option there from the previous chuck!?!?
