Solid first shot at the Swimbait Session! I've decided it's time to try something new and open up our range a bit as far as baits go....we're going big. I'm going to spend atleast a full day every week focusing on fishing swimbaits with my good friend Billy Baits in hopes of catching some giant bass and learning along the way.

Those baits are dope!!! Most, including me --- think their too big ...... yet they produce; proof is in the pudding as they say. Just WOW!!! Matt, the series --- another great and awesome idea. A shout out too Billy also ... that sh*t just, well --- an eye opener!!! Be Safe

Just caught an estimated 48” tiger musky on a mike bucca 5” bull shad in eastern pa, i am now a believer in big swimbaits. By far my biggest musky. Excited for swimbait sessions

Still, 5" in relatively small for a muskie bait. Practically finesse fishing for them!

Clifford Hutt believe me, I know. My problem is I fish maybe twice a month so I try to jam bass fishing and musky fishing into the same 4 or 5 hour trip, often alternating bass and musky baits. All my musky rods are really heavy flipping bass rods. Most times the results are poor for either species but memorial Monday all the planets aligned and all the things that could go wrong, did not go wrong. Prior to the musky, I had gone 6 times and had a total of one nibble from any type of fish 🤣

I was testing my swim bait setup in my local river and a 3 pounder came up and smashed my bluegill glide bait probably best way to catch bass beside frogging good video as always.

Love that you started a Swimbait series. I'm going down the same path the last few months collecting baits and getting a dedicated 2-8oz setup. Just started throwing glides, bull gills, etc. Can't wait to see how the series continues!

Another great video. I do well with a large crappie looking bait. About 4" long 2 1/2 " deep . I have had it for years. I fish it slow with a lot of pauses.

Love this concept. Billy is for sure my favorite out of the crew that you fish with and who are on The Bite, which I really miss by the way. I look forward to hearing what he has to say. Another thing that would be cool is if you could show a cheaper alternative for the new guys and dudes without a lot of cash at the end of your videos. Like "if you are looking for a good glide bait, try this river2sea S-Waver."

SBFISHINGTV thank you bro! So when it comes to gear, do you need to have upgraded reels for the work that they’re putting in? Throwing the heavier baits constantly, targeting larger fish all the time... just seems to me that it would put a hurting on a normal reel after a short amount of time

Matt, Not my style of fishing, but it is about fishing so I like it. I look forward to more. Why would some of your musky gear not be applicable to glide baits. They are smaller and lighter than your musky baits. A little confused on gear selection. I get that some of the musky gear would be too stout and heavy. But like any style of fishing we have lighter and heavier gear depending on what we are tossing at that moment.

If you go to 1 min 90 when your reeling in you can kind of see a big flash 5 sec later 5 feet to the left your friend smoked the same fish take a look

I've thrown it around 2-3 other times and haven't had any issues until this trip! It did pop out when I was trying to rip it over a tree though so I'll give it that haha.

Those would also make good muskie baits. Listening to you talk about twitch, pause, glide with those swimbaits is the same as working a Phantom glidebait for muskie. Edited to add: Now you're figure 8ing a bass. Love it. lol

Pardon my ignorance, but could you PLEASE identify the glide bait that you introduce at the very beginning of this video? I must have listened ten times to the name you gave, which sounded like "Vike Crew," but I couldn't find anything REMOTELY resembling that on Google. Nor did I see it in your written notes about the footage. Finally, I can't resist making this suggestion: If you're going to make a series on fishing with big swimbaits (great idea!), don't you think it would be appropriate to show people exactly how each one moves through the water as it's retrieved? Most anglers seem to feel that swimming action is EVERYTHING in these baits.
