Yup!! Sure is. Good luck if you go fishing. We are headed down late last month too :) I havent gotten the fishing game plan together yet.

Paddle and Hook I’m not experienced enough for the kayak stuff so I am gonna stick to the banks and such. Should be a great trip. I would assume that no permit is needed for the private ponds, but will make sure I have what I need for the sound and everything else.

Stephen Janoschka enjoy! It should be awesome :) something i learned was the further north in the sound, the fresher the water. Aside from crabs, all the species in corolla sound side were fresh water

Garrett Prokopchak Once you get the experience a few times, you learn to focus on fishing and forget about the distance (the first couple of times it seems far). The wind and tide that day were woking together to take me north! Wish i had launched 15 miles south so i could’ve landed back at the house lol. Im glad you enjoyed the video. We are heading back to corolla in about a month, so look for that video in early August!

So…whalehead in corolla has a public use area and the bay up there is super fresh, with gar, pumpkinseed, largemouth, but somehow crabs and the occasional juvenile flounder or puppy drum. The ponds are scattered and pretty much either roadside or in neighborhoods. The further south you go the more brackish and then salty it gets bayside/soundside. Most of the bigger/better ponds are on the land side before you get on any bridges to cross over the sound. It gets hot AF there in the summer so bass like it in the shade for sure.
