Fishing a hidden woodland lake that's full of fish! I did not expect to have this much success, especially fishing somewhere as beautiful and wild as this. Trout fishing can be really magical, not just because of the fish you're catching but the places they take you trying. The colours on these fish continue to amaze me, and to be catching them from a place like this really does just leave me lost for words. Lure fishing for trout has to be one of my favourite things to do, especially this time of year.
As always, thanks for watching and hopefully i'll see you here for the next video! Don't forget to hit that subscribe button if you enjoyed it, drop a like and leave a comment below letting me know what you think of the video!
Gear used: Okuma Altera 2-7g 2 piece spinning rod, Okuma Altera ATE30 reel, Rapala countdown elite 3.5cm, Blue fox vibrax UV spinners (size 0 and 1), Sufix 11lb braid, Sufix 4lb fluorocarbon leader.

I live in Ontario Canada and I have a fishing boat in a marina on of our pretty big lakes. My most successful lure is a number three Vibrax, with which I have caught everything including 5lb bass and 30 lb pike. They are great lures that create a vibration in the water when retrieved which many fish can’t resist. It’s interesting to see that you in the UK have also discovered this lure.

Yes, I was born and raised in Liverpool England, then we emigrated to Ontario when I was 17. I fished in the UK from age of 10, and I wasn’t used to catching fish of any real size. Now within 30 minutes of my house I can catch enormous 30 lb King Salmon, 15 lb steelhead, bass up to about 8 lb, jumbo perch, big pike and brook trout. Within an hour we can catch good sized steelhead and brown trout. We have very cold winters but I can’t wait for the Spring to come to enjoy the fishing great opportunities we have here.

Don't over think it mate, I go with probably around a meter of fluro on a 6ft 6 rod, too long and the uni-knot can sometimes catch on the guides and affect casting, too short and it's pointless
@adventurefishinguk
@adventurefishinguk Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, length doesn't matter too much in my opinion as long as it's at least a couple of feet. If you're using a swivel then I wouldn't go so long that it's awkward to cast, but if you tie a good knot then it can be a lot longer

Do you see many of the trout rising there?

Not really mate! There’s the odd rise but not as much as I’d expect. I’m not sure why

@@adventurefishinguk probably hard to cast a dry fly anyway with vegetation and deep water. I thought I didn't know where this place was but now I realised I do!

@@adventurefishinguk Indeed you did but there is a lot of it about. Bailey (The Essex Angler) seems to have got even less backing on his reels! I am enjoying your journey into fishing.

@@petew7856 thanks for watching! Do you have any suggestions on how to ensure you get enough mono backing?
@petew7856
@petew7856 Жыл бұрын
@@adventurefishinguk I guess it is just practice. If you haven’t put enough backing on then don’t just leave it. Wind the line off onto another reel increase the backing and reload. It is so annoying it will guarantee you don’t do it again 😀

Has your partnership with RiggednReady come to an end?
@adventurefishinguk
@adventurefishinguk Жыл бұрын
Definitely not! I'll always use their travel rods they're great. It's good to use some more specialist lure gear sometimes too, especially as Rigged and ready don't do a rod as light as this one!
