What a pleasant surprise - carp fishing being taken seriously in America, by an American! Great to see your respect and care for these pristine river carp - fish that have almost certainly not been caught previously. Keep up the good work, and subbed, from the UK.

Man, what an awesome day. The average size fish in that river is impressive, all were big fish in my book. Nice work.

Thanks Tom. I fortunately have some good carp waters near where I live. Good numbers and good average size. But I'm always happy with them all. Thanks for stopping by.

Well done buddy,you do catch a few fish on your travels. We use bobbins on our alarms in the uk to register a drop back bites, i did notice no fish had a kiss today !!!. TIGHT LINES.

Thanks Robert. I have the bobbins. I just never use them. But I may try them out in the near future. I was a little rattled this day, for no apparent reason, so my romantic side was a bit subdued. But I'll be sure to show those carp some love next time out 🤣

Bait runners have front and rear drags. The rear drag can be adjusted by turning the knob at the very end of the reel and it looks like your reels are set on the front drag and very loose on the rear drag. I usually put both settings ( front and back) and engage the bait runner by pulling lever back down and when you have a run, when you turn the reel a bit should engaged the drag. Wish we have loads of rivers here in the U.K. that is filled with carps like where you are fishing. Tight lines!

Thanks for the info brother. Thr problem with the reel though is that it's broken. Some damage inside the housing to one of the cogs/sprockets.

Channel cat's love anything that has corn in it, but I guess their a bonus catch, in between the Carp. And anywhere there's channel cats, wherever you're fishing for carp, you can expect to catch them too, if you're using anything with corn in it . I liked catching channels, if they got any size to them, but I changed my bait up a long time ago so I wouldn't catch as many channels and more carp, i did away with anything with corn and started making my own doughbait, I have a couple of different doughbaits that catch good carp, everywhere I ever fished for them too, well between Central KY to SW Ohio. Anywho, I been watching the Team Carp boys for quite a while and was just watching their newest upload video and your channel popped up, so I figured I'd check it out , pretty good man, subbed ya! And on that one reel that messed up on you, sounds like something with the baitrunner, that's my guess anyways. Later man, tight lines! The baitrunner is not disengaging all the way, what it sounds like.
@AmericanCarpAngler
@AmericanCarpAngler 11 ай бұрын
Thankk you sir for the input and I may have to try some other non corn based recipes myself though I don't mind catching an occasional channel cat myself, especially if they jave some decent size to them. As far as the reel goes, something with one or both of the drags is not engaging. Something inside the actual housing, so I plan to try and take that apart and see what's going on. Thanks again for the input and for stopping by and tight lines to you as well.

Dang. Those are some nice fish. Even that one catfish. I know it's hard to get carp fishing gear here in the US. Thanks for Amazon and Ebay though. Just got a daiwa black widow 10ft 3lb rod. And a bait runner reel. Cant wait to try it. Carp fishing is fun. And most people here think they are trash fish. So bigger fish for us to catch. Tight lines! From Texas.

And like Jackson said, Big Carp Tackle (bigcarptackle.com) is in the US. I have a couple of other links in the description where yoi can find carp fishing gear also. Thanks brother.

Thanks Steve. Good to know. I had another viewer who fishes this section of river in a carp tourney the locals run every year, and he gave me some advice in keeping the rod tips up high in order to lessen the chances of getting line cut from zebra mussles. Seems to have helped.

Greetings from across the pond. I have recently found your channel and I have to say its good to see you taking such good care of your captures. Check out some of the korda videos,l think you will find the bait ones useful. Over here we use boiled baits in a wide range of flavours,they catch a lot of big fish. Keep the videos coming please,its great to see the places you fish and the carp you catch. Best wishes for the future.

Thanks so much Marc. I've actually made some homemade boilies last year and had success with them on an outing. Still have some in the freezer that I need to unthaw. And I need to make ot order some more to target some bigger fish. Thanks for the advice and I'll keep the vids coming. I'm really enjoying it.

i like your videos. I like your New York style. I'm new to carp angling. Downstate here nobody fishes for carp. I've caught a few on the Hudson. I don't know how to deal with the tides, where they are, the currant etc. but I'm having fun. There are supposed to be some big ones in the Hudson. I've hooked into some 5-7 pounders. anyway keep it up.

Thanks Daniel and will do. Keep at it and I'm sure you'll get into some big ones. I just got into carp fishing last year and I'm really loving it. I'm not sure exactly how far downstate you are but the state record comes out of the Tomhannock Dam, just NE of Troy. That'd be a cool place to try and fish for em

I don't have any videos making up my bait. I've tried some different combos with oats and panko and corn but the best combo for me has been an 18 ounce container of Quaker Oats (I use the cheaper Walmart brand), 1 packet (3.4 oz) of strawberry Jello and 1 can (15 oz) of sweet cream corn. Simple, packs just right and seems to work. Just mix it all together and you're good to go. I'll double all that if I plan to be out all day. And thanks again buddy. Hope this helps.

Congrats on another great day on the water! I recently bought the same 9ft Sonik rods that you were using and paired them up with Sonik VaderX 5000 reels. Haven’t had a chance to use them yet. Did you like the rods overall compared to others you’ve used?
@AmericanCarpAngler
@AmericanCarpAngler Жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe! Just got into carp fishing last year and so I don't have a ton of experience with carp rods. I've only fished with these, some cheaper NGTs and some Catfish Sumo rods. I do, however, do all sorts of other fishing and own more rods then I can count and I can say these are some pretty good build quality rods for the price. They look sharp too. And they handle the fish well (biggest so far has been a 24lber). And they are so nice to transport. I leave the tip section on all the time and then just retract the middle section into the bottom section so then they are maybe only 7 or so feet long. Great for throwing into the back of my hatchback. I think you'll be happy with them. I'm going to order 2 of the Sonic Xtractor Recon 12 foot versions for fishing bigger venues like Onondaga Lake, so I can really cast out there if I need to. But 9 footers work just great for rivers and smaller venues IMHO.
