426 is the pinnacle. Great UV contrast between the belly and stripes and enough flash to be seen in the shallower water or when blading the edges

never used these exact blades but I'd probably go a 445 or a 428. I can see both these colours working well in fresh and salt aswell as clear/dirty water👌

Gday Byron, the 439 and 445 are my go to blade fish candy with a dab of secret scent sauce when chasing bream, including mulloway as well. 439 and 445 are my favourites for sure, your spot on in saying blading is a great way to get non fishos into some fish. Easy to use and really effective in teaching the new fishos that lure to rod connection.. another great vid

@@ByronTeaHill no worries still trying to get my head around the hopping/twitch technique everytime I do it it feels wrong hard to explain lol. What I do is cast as soon as the lure hits the water ie in this case Zman Grubs flick the bail over to see if get a hit on the way down. When it's on the bottom I flick the rod tip up, immediately wind in the slack then let it hit the bottom, the problem is I'm not able to get my lure to go to the bottom once I've wound in the slack. I feel like I'd need to show you go pro footage easiest way you can see how my technique is, either way it doesn't feel right I feel like if I fix one thing I will be onto more fish with lures, I'm very persistent I will get there still chasing that legal bream lol Usually I take two rods one on bait and one for lure fishing as I get frustrated with the using lures.

Never fished blades before but after watching this video i went straight to the local fishing shop to get some!!! I have always found black with some red or orange on the bell to be the best. Ecogear VX35 color 455 is first to hit the water. Thanks so much for the info. I will let u know how it goes.

I personally wouldn't narrow it down to one but my instinct is to always go natural, so I'd start off with the 409 and 406 for clear water. Real dirty water I'd go 422 and the 445 and anything in between I'd have these two in the box 443 and the 405 being that prawns are the most common food source. Bryon enjoyed watching your channel this year and you're a brave man going out in some of those conditions you get down there.

Another great video Byron, I use both black and the olive. But I prefer the olive as I primarily fish in Tuggerah lakes..keep up the good work. My wife bought me a 2016 olive pa 12 from hws. Been out twice. Love it. I would love that rod as I do like using blades.

Awesome looking rod - tackle has come so far lately, its possible to build a lot of custom rigs for specific tasks. I didn't really appreciate this until I set up a specific rod and reel for squid fishing and the difference it made having a dedicated setup for that. So many rigs, so little funds though ;). With regards to the VX lures - I've only used the 439 and 445 - had much more success with the 439, so I guess I'd have to say its my favourite.

have been using the VX35 for years, one of the lures I'll have on at least once almost every session. 445, for me here in the West is my best, although 439 and 409 are awesome. I am very aggressive in the retrieval and love using it in fast moving water when I barely let it touch the bottom before a short, sharp rip. Pylons, etc. also in windy areas, anchoring the kayak on a drop off that has current moving through, casting upcurrent and working back. I do get a lot of what I call "false" hookups, where the lure hits a fish sitting on top of the lure, hooking under the head or body and often only hooks up briefly. plus the small trebles are hard to keep in, even with a good rod! But is still an awesome lure.

The 422 colour would have to be my go to colour of choice. I love the darker green on top and the shine on the belly. The bright contrasting eyes also help I reckon.

Living inland (Canberra) the majority of my fishing is freshwater with the occasional trip to the salt. I think 445 is the best colour to use in both fresh and salt. Great video btw :-)

I’ve caught fish on the 439. I’ve definitely had more luck with blades than any other purse I’ve tried. I’m going to pay more attention to the rod I use after watching this, thanks.

The ecogear zx35 417 black and gold shrimp can cast in any weather conditions and got some good flathead on them to 🎣🎣

I really like the 401... especially when trying to imitate prawns hoping off the bottom. Its a nice brown colour like the 439 with a few added stripes.

Great vid. 409 in the shallows and 445 in the deep. I do prefer the zx blades in 43mm 402 I’ve colour.

Another well organised and well produced video. Cover the right details in a summarised manner. Really appreciate the section showing how the rod bents with and without load. Do you have twitch freak or know how that compares to the blade freak? Favourite VX color would be 445 and 439.

KK Chan, thanks for your comments mate, really happy you enjoyed it. I don't have a twitch freak mate - I was looking for a specific rod that lead me to the Miller Rod, haven't needed to try the others :)
