Hi Richard, my name is Kathleen John Fujita was my uncle. When my uncle John passed his brothers Jim and George continued with the business and continued to make the lures until the last brother passed in April of 2007. It was fascinating to see the lures being handmade and tested. To this day, I still get calls requesting the lure. It took about 1 hour to make each lure. I just happened to come across your video clip by chance. Thank you so very much....this brings back so many wonderful memories!

Much respect RGTFM. My mom was the worst cook, fried baloney, toast and white gravy, stuff like that, but I survived. And, today I appreciate the meals my wife cooks, probably much like Momma Sue. Please know you are a unique man and an inspiration for others to do the best they can at whatever they find is “second to none”.

Pops used that lure, in Virginia the Virginia shad was not much to eat but was caught for the roe, folks would fry it in scrambled eggs for breakfast, the thing you said about eating what was served was the rule, I seen meals made out stuff ,today people would say there’s nothing to eat! We where trained to hoe the garden and there was a way you had to do it, You couldn’t tears up the plants.

Richard, do you remember the name Buck Perry? He created a lure called the ( Spoonplug ). They looked similar to a shoe horn with the sides turned up and a treble hook in the rear. It came in several sizes and colors, and was meant to be used for high speed trolling for Bass. This was back in the day before we had electronics. And Buck claimed he could locate fish within minits by high speed trolling an unfamiliar lake. And he would demonstrate doing it. I think i still have a couple of them somewhere.

My Father was an avid fisherman and passed away very young in July 1950. I have some of his Heddon and Creek Chub lures and other tackle. There are several hooks with that curved spoon attached which must be similar to what you are showing. I have that same Shakespeare Spinning reel only the number is 2062. You inspired me to get on the water and try them out. Thanks. Oh with 6 children in my family, you darn sure ate what Mom put on the table, or went to bed hungry.

I enjoyed seeing the old fishing lure catch fish. It took my mind back to 1957 in Georgia catching crappie in a pond near my home as a ten year old. Used a small all metal lure called a super duper on an old bait casting rig that had a metal rod. The lure was a ribbon of metal bent double with a small treble hook. The color was gold with a small red stripe on it. We moved to Florida when I was 12. I would sure like to find another super duper to try on the fish down here.

Mr. Gene, Please do this family a big bonus since you are the expert, on this fishing lure, advise them to make the next 2 sizes...an 8 and 6 maybe even a 4 hook size with the same setup and the people will hook bigger fish...This seems the next logical step in the evolution of the lure.....

Richard, I cut my teeth on No Names back in the 60s. I'd cast them with a casting bubble using a Mitchell 304 on a medium power Conolon rod and Garcia Royal Bonnyl line. Crappies and gills would come to the slaughter when I tied one on. Thanks for bringing back a simpler time and a passion for fishing back then.

Ketchn the old way Richard, have an areated minnow bucket with water from where your fishin', catch a couple bluegill and put in that minnow bucket. Then use the slime from those bluegill on your lure. They will be slightly scared in your bucket after being caught and produce that pheromone of being scared in their slime. It actually works very well. But the gills and the water must be from where your fishing at, same body of water/ lake.

Richard, Molly and I are proud of the tribute you awarded the NO-NAME. Great job on video and scripting too! Gave a few away in past years, but most guys never took them out of package. Shame on them. BTW, most "lure collectors" never heard of NO-NAME. Tried, over the years, to get them to list on their website directories or sell some to them. All refused! Also, I have very few left just for my personal use. So . . . let your followers know not to ask me for any. Also, several copies came out. One was "Brand-X" but it did not have NO-NAME wiggle.

It's funny you would post this today. I haven't fished for decades but recently started to take it up again. To gear up quickly and cheaply I've been buying a lot of used stuff at garage sales, estate sales, swap meets, etc. and have run across quite a few old relics of lures, rods and reels. I was thinking they were probably too old to be useful but now I'm not so sure. I'm thinkin' now that I should probably give them all a second look and a second chance. Thanks!

I have several of them in my tackle box and have caught many fish with it. Tipped with a maggot it is a crappie killer. I caught a BIG musky with it fishing on Lake Wilhelm in northern Pennsylvania, I had it tied to a 4 pound test line and was using a small ultralight reel ,which was ruined and my Zander Walley Rod which allowed me to play the fish for over a half hour before she was landed,A real fun time.Again a good lure.
