How long is the line to the sinker? does it get hung up alot while drifting? Use this rig for drifting and anchored or just drifting? Great video Capt!!!

@@charlieoneal6865 Hello. Sorry for the slow reply (missed the questions when you posted it.) I normally make the line from the swivel to the sinker about 2'-3'. The rig can snag the bottom especially if you're not careful. If you are drifting, it is important to watch your bottom machine and watch the rod tip for signs that the sinker is dragging the bottom. Just reel it up a few times to compensate. Finally, the rig can be used both anchored or while drifting. Thanks for watching.

Maybe, but until we can ask the fish, it will be impossible to know for sure. I can only tell you what works for me. Over the years I’ve caught 1000’s of fish this way. Unfortunately, that is the how it’s usually done. In the future, I’ll probably make a video showing how to make a wind on leader that allows you to detach the sinker and reel the fish right to the boat. 😉 Thanks, Capt. O

Just join your mono or flouro to your main line. I use an Alberto knot to do this . i dont like all that jewelry on my line.

@@bobli9267 Yes. If you hang the bottom you can break the lead off without having to re tie the entire rig.

Hello Jim. The longer leaders is primarily for mutton snapper (usually leader shy). You could get away with a shorter leader for grouper. It also can vary with the location you are fishing and type of bottom. Tight Lines, Capt. O

Just makes a stronger connection! I normally use a spider hitch or bimini twist.

Bimini can be a bit involved on a pitching deck. Both are great knots.
