Fishman Fluence pickups for electric guitars are the first real advancement in pickup system design in over 80 years. A new, analog, system-wide approach delivers great idealized guitar sounds that are also quiet and free from hum and other artifacts that affect our favorite pickups from the past.
Multi-Voice Change Pickups on the Fly
The nature of the Fluence Core also allows you to create multiple voices for each pickup, so every Fluence pickup has two selectable, complementary voices onboard. These voices can be accessed via any number of standard switches or push-pull controls.
Power to the People
Another example of the fresh thinking applied to Fluence is the way their power supply is stored and managed. Can you use a standard 9V battery? Yes. But where do you put it if your guitar doesn't have a compartment? The optional Fluence battery packs require no modification and screw on to your guitar in place of the control or spring cover. They offer 200+ hours of playing time and fully charge in a few hours using a standard USB charger.
Idealized Pickups
With Fluence pickups you can run hundreds of feet of guitar cable without any loss in sound quality. Your volume control operates smoother than you've ever experienced, and it has no adverse affect on your tone, allowing you to get musically useful sounds in the 2 to 5 region of its travel. No hum, no buzz, no spurious noise or frustrating inductance issues.

I'm getting these even if I have to pick up pennys on the street for a couple years. I don't like the batteries thing, but for this tone I'll live with it. Right now I have a Seymore Classic 59 in the neck and a JB in the bridge. I don't know why, and I'm sure as hell not knocking Seymore Duncan, but they just aren't doing it for me. If they did, I wouldnt even consider the Fluence. Greg is a monster player! I always enjoy his playing and chill demeanor. : )

Randy Woolum That's the issue. The man is able to make a 59$ piece of sh.t sound like a 59 LP. If I changed my pickups, I wouldn't sound any closer to his playing. Besides, I already have a pair of The Mule pickups on my LP. No fancy push-pull options, no battery powered upgrade, just great vintage sound. That's enough for me

I really like the Fluence, and I've always used vintage style single coils, PAFs and somewhat recent; 50s type P90's. But if you have a muddy neck pickup on a traditional PU: lower the entire pickup a bit, then back the adjustable pole pieces back up. I was doing a setup on my buddy's ES335. Acoustically it's a one of the better sounding 335s I've played of standard production model modern Gibson (think it was a 2005 or something), so most pickups will sound , at worst; pretty good. He was recording and was saying they were too warm and compressed for one particular song. I don't even remember how it occurred to me to even try, I like to think it was a moment of inspiration but in reality I probably heard it from someone else when half-paying attention, but after an hour or so on it and adjusting it, we dialed it in and it worked great.👌. That was back in 2010 or 11, and it's still set-up that way, even after a pickup swap.👍 *I'm looking at these because I have the Gristle tone P90s. Thinking of picking up a PRS DGT SE and trying these in it, I think it'll be a great 'grab & go', Swiss army axe.

The magic of a Les Paul is all about those there PAFs and the more reasonably priced boutique replicas. Anything else is just a waste of money. Now, not a snob by any means, but the Fishmans make great noises and all but there's no double tone, no cluck attack, no 'hollowness', no sparkle, no.... magic. Magic is expensive. Pay or play a Tele. Cos at least with a Tele you can still make your CC payment AND sound good.
