Murda!!! Love the vids! As an avid fisher person and Culinary Pro per se, I think that the basic rule of cooking would apply here… When frying anything in hot oil and attempting to coat it with a dry ingredient you have to remember the main rule of thumb…1. dry 2.wet 3.dry….in other words you lightly dredge your fish in a dusting of flour then you dip it in an egg wash which is a beaten egg with a little bit of water or milk and after dipping it in the egg then you dip it in the crushed up dots or pretzels or chips or whatever breading you want to use on it…but it won’t just stick to plain fish…it’ll come off in the oil… if you don’t do a dry, wet, dry combination…just a little culinary tip from someone who has been cooking for over 40 years with 8 years of Culinary Training. Keep up the good work 🎣👍🏼💪🏼💕

@@Phantazma1988 I wouldn’t say it is up to anyone except Dot. She is from a town of about 800 people in North Dakota. $1.2 billion after putting in 10 years of her life is pretty good, though. If you think she could have out marketed her product to the world without the headache of running an operation out of her house, I’d say you don’t really know better than Dot. And I’m not arguing with you, because maybe she could have gotten more than $1.2 billion if she kept it, but maybe she was ready to retire.

ok ok ok - next time you do DOTS, do this: 1) first use a rolling pin to get the pretzels to a powder. 2) coat the fish in egg first so more pretzel sticks to it. 3) add salt after they come out of the fryer. I've been using Dot's crumble for a few years now and after much trial and error, this is the best method i've found.

This video is like a dream I've had. I love watching your ice fishing videos. We barely get much ice down here in South eastern Illinois. I've got a 6 acre strip lake full of crappie, bluegill, sunfish, large mouth, and channel cats.. Can't wait to get out soon and take my 6 year old son and pick morel mushrooms and catch crappie. If you get a chance to make it down this way, I would love to guide you. We have a n old farm house renivated like a bed and breakfast. I'm a chef and my mother is a mastergardener, we keep bee's and market farm. We have goats and free range chickens. Would love to have some guest like you down here in the Shawnee n national forest area. I can guide you through lots of beautiful rock formations in the Shawnee, even set you up on some rock climbs down here.

I'd recommend pulsing the pretzels in a food processor to get a finer breading, throwing it in a bag, and taking it with you next time you camp/cook. Maybe an egg wash and then breading them would make it even better (probably similar to panko)! Also I don't generally like honey mustard, but those dots are fucking bussin, respectfully. The sugar in the coating might burn if you try frying it tho, just a lil warning.
@donnacoker7716
@donnacoker7716 2 жыл бұрын
Or, if you don’t have a small food processor…take along a rolling pin and you can roll that over them until they are fine. However, if you know ahead of time you’re going to use something that you have to pound to smithereens, try doing it before you leave home. Also, an egg would make the breading stick to the fish better then just them being damp from being washed. Of course, I know I’m not saying anything you don’t already know! I’m not a fisher person, but I love fish (seafood) and I enjoy your videos. I came across you by chance. Just fyi.
