You're in for a treat if you're reading this for the first time. The first arcs are awesome, but after the Godland arc (which this volume only goes halfway with), the series amps up like crazy. Buronson and Tetsuo Hara are geniuses.

Good to see this series has gotten a new release. I'm a huge fan of the anime series and read some of the manga years ago. I still have some of the original Viz releases and I read a volume of the Master Edition which came out years ago. It's never been a better time to be a fan of Fist of the North Star and I certainly hope it'll bring in new fans too.

I feel so nostalgic when they made the size just like jojo because it was heavily inspired by fist of the North Star for part 1-3

The manga is like peak macho 'strong men also cry' feels. A really amazing combination of wanton ultraviolence and a humanistic eye for the pain compassionate humans must endure in a world filled with cruelty. All the protagonists serve justice and use their strength to try and defend the weak from senseless brutality while the reader is invited to revel in the violence meted out on those who would abuse their power. The story gets really good after the first couple of arcs with a strong melancholic tone of tragedy and confronting fate with dignity.

Congratulations on 1k and I know many more milestones will come soon! The quality of your videos are always top notch!

The manga is awesome. Kinda be sidetrack but must be heard. If you have finished reading the manga, the anime (my concern) is underrated and maybe because of that is because it was an retro anime released in the 80s. I tell you, if they remaster the anime with original storyline, ost, sound effects, the anime will sky-rocket because it's storyline most of all. Thank you for reviewing our favourite manga.

I found your channel today and binged watched your content. Found the KZfaq through your website on Manga restock article. Really enjoyed your videos, especially the format comparisons for collecting various series. If I can give one minor constructive criticism. I find that all of your review content is overwhelming positive. Which makes it hard to really decide if the series is worth getting into (for myself). Then again I enjoy negative criticism as much as I like positive criticism. For the reviews I have watched it's all positive, which makes me think you like everything. And that then doesn't become a helpful review. That being said, all of the content overview (size, page quality, price, availablity) is all top notch and high quality. For background I have collected manga on-and-off since 2007. My most prized possession is Tezuka phoenix which I collected when it retail.

Nice review! Fist of the North Star looks like one hell of a print job. I work in printing and I know the gloss pages are an expensive to print these days. Anyway, dope review. Throw Lopicana on one of your reviews and it would make my year! Lol

Thanks for the vid. I've just finished volume 3 and I get the feeling the story going forward could get 'samey' (Ken meets a new gang, Ken kills the gang leader etc. etc.). Does it have more to offer? (I loved the movie when I was a kid back in the 90s)

I do own volume 1 of fists of the north star and I really loved it. I really hope knights of the zodiac (Saint Seiya) gets this treatment since I’ve been reading that on the Shonen jump app and have desires to have the series on my shelf but I’m glad fists of the north star is getting this hardcover print

I got Volume 1 and liked it. I thumbed thru the next three volumes in the store…I love the art…but the story seems pretty repetitive. He seems to one punch every bad guy and except for the arch villain in Vol 1…it seems like this guy is a god/ Superman who can’t be hurt ( which makes each fight lose it stakes since he is so OP)

The comic "The Fist of the North Star" that you have demostrated and presented that was the brand new Premium Edition of 2020 that has (1-18 end volume) The New premium edition comics The Fist of the North Star has (1-18[end] ). But the difference in Fist of the North Star volume 11 there was a bonus chapter episode. Meanwhile the old version comics "The Fist of the North Star that published in 1984" has (1 to 27[END] volumes)

The original manga was definitely NOT in color. This is something added afterward. The story of Ken is told like a legend would be told. The actions the characters are all bigger then life. Ken becomes Karma incarnate and unleashed upon evil men giving them all a taste of their own medicine whenever he can. If the mob bashes the head of and innocent, he would release a boulder on their head or something to that affect. How badass is that? I loved this series so much, i would wait impaciently for the next translated volume every two months or so. ...And Tetsuo Hara is one of the best mangaka out there EVER!! Even Akira Toriyama used some of his art style into his series. I mean when he looks up to him that alone tells a lot. By the end of the series his artstyle had became so good. I can talk about this guy forever :)

I prefer paperbacks over hardcovers. If Jo-Jo had English paperbacks I’d be in heaven

I read the first volume and half of the second, and at this point, I think I got everything out of the series I could. Maybe I’ll continue if there’s a twist or something more to the story, but if it’s just wander to the next town and fight someone, then I don’t think I’m interested to keep spending money on this. It’s cool to have as a piece of history being to quote cartoonist kayfabe one of Japan’s first “outlaw comics” and to see all of the influence it’s had on manga today. Like holy shit, did Miura take a lot from this for berserk.

Excellent video! Fist of The North Star is my favorite Japanese property of all time! Did you get the eBook1 that has the entire manga translated in one volume? It's rare now and expensive, but it's a beautiful device. It's so great to see this finally getting an official hardcover release. I can't wait for volume 2!

It's a shame it's from Viz. Wast it from Kodansha you could expect a much better quality hard cover. I want to own Hokuto no Ken but not like this (glued binding + newsprint)…

Are the "normal" pages white? mine have the white pages all a little yellow, like when a paper of an old manga turn yellow ! in the video of a first of the north star review of "near mint condition" are also yellow, and there you can see a comparison of color paper...i wonder if it is the same for all , or it differ from one another
