This week on Fit Tip Tuesday I'm sharing how to do a high round back adjustment on a Raglan Sleeve top. This came up in my workshop that I taught in Kansas... I actually tried to find my tutorial for this here on my Channel so I could should a student how to do it. Well, I found out pretty quick that I haven't covered this yet! So, in class I referred to one of my set-in sleeve tutorials to figure it out.... Here's the easy way to do it!

Clearly explained, thank you. I also have a high round back and I don't like clothes with raglan because they didn't fit me. I will try to ajust the sleeve and back of the patterns.

If you're working with a drop shoulder pattern, I would use the same methods that I linked in the description for a set in sleeve. Thanks for fitting along with me

I have to admit I haven’t attempted to sew something with a raglan sleeve yet. However I do have a high round back so this will put me ahead of the game. I’m also sure once I start doing a raglan sleeve this will make a lot more sense to me.

Ohhh! Thank you!!! I love raglan sleeves because of my forward shoulders and now I can also fix my high round back. Would you be willing to do a video of this on a dolman or kimono sleeve, or do you have one already?

Thanks! I just emailed back and forth with someone who was having trouble with her dropped shoulder top sliding backward... after suggesting several things to fix it by adjusting the shoulder seams, the answer turned out to be adjusting the CF... I'll add that to my list! Thanks for fitting along with me

Thank you for this - I have been looking for this forever. Now can I ask if you would do a high round back adjustment for a yoke which forms part of the armscye (or if you have shown this elsewhere could you point me in the right direction).

Thanks! You can follow this tutorial to do a high round back on the yoke... (It doesn't matter that the yoke doesn't extend down to the hem... and ignore the sway back part) kzfaq.info3dVg788kW_s Thanks for watching

I am interested in learning more about cutting out garments on the bias. Would the book you briefly showed in this video "Bias Cut Blueprints" be helpful or do you have a video tutorial on this subject that you could guide me to?

I love working on the bias! The Bias Cut Blueprints Book has a lot of great information and the projects are perfect to try it out! Do you have a video on high round back adjustment on a bat wing sleeve garment? The front comes up and is choking you after wearing it for a while.

That's interesting that you asked this question... I worked with someone via email with this similar problem. In the end, she took out a wedge from the CF neckline at CF (Draw the CF edge so it cuts off 1" of the front neckline) Then add the same amount to the back neckline... This helped her loose dropped shoulder top from pulling to the back and choking her. Maybe that will help?

Would this eliminate the forward shoulder adjustment? I normally have to do both but can't find out how to do the forward shoulder

Nope, you would need to do both... This changes length of the CB ... A forward shoulder shifts the length to the back and shortens the front! Hope this helps! Thanks for fitting along with me

Great video, but doesn't this enlarge the armhole?

It does lengthen the armhole slightly... but the armhole is closer to the center back compared to a set in sleeve... so it may need a little more length. If you find that this makes your armhole too long, you can just slash and spread the CB to the armhole edge. Hope this helps! Thanks for fitting along with me
