Just enjoyed one night at a hotel. Eating expensive asparagus in the evening and indulging the breakfast the next morning. The whole short vacation felt so good. Being pampered. Normally, I rent an Apartment for holidays and cook myself.

So sorry about the loss of your precious family member! We experienced the loss of our little dog a few months back as well. Heartbreaking! I too cried ugly for about 9 days. Eating out and the Chosen series got me through. for me it was A&W coupons! 😁😁😁

Hilarious! I feel the same. My dad is retired and “Dashes” around for extra money to supplement his pension. I worry that as folks start being more frugal, but alas people are creatures of habit. We fell into the DoorDash trap during the pandemic. At first it was great- so easy and convenient, but it’s also so expensive when you add the fees and tips on top. We would do it sometimes twice a week. And sometimes the food would arrive cold or soggy (hamburgers and fries don’t do well). We do it on rare occasions now. It’s good to have the option when you really can’t cook or go out to get it.

I am so sorry your kitty passed away. I was laughing during your video. I have lived in my house for 8 years and have never ordered food delivery…..not even a pizza. I am lucky because I live close to a lot of great restaurants. Nothing wrong with treating yourself! Ha

Hahaha, you had food delivered, just because it's through doordash, people have been having food delivery for years. Personally, I stopped years ago because of the delivery and tipping. Instead, I think of when I might want take out and grab it on my way home. A $15 dollar pizza picked up on my way home cost $23 if delivered, and that's not worth it to me. But make it a line item and go for it. I think what most surprised me with this video it's as tho you've never had delivery before 😂 Go for it and enjoy!!

Our common dilema is also Doordash 😂 We have come up with a budget and plan though so we have calmed down quite a bit. It absolutely is so luxurious to have hot food delivered to our door, especially after a long day of work and other responsibilities!

Scrapbooking is my jam. Have everything I need, but still buy new. I'll never use all of what I have in my lifetime. So now I envelope budget $20 a month. No more overspending. This month we have really been splurging on eating out! It has all been great, but afterwards we are like for that amount of money we could have gotten lots of great items at the grocery store that we normally say No too because it is too expensive, yet here we dont blink an eye at eating out.

Concert tickets are my thing. I don't go out much, but concerts have always been my thing. Even though there are alot of added costs with them ( service fees,parking, gas drinks ) I spend the money because they are experiences that I enjoy and I know I would regret not having them to remember. I try to spend on experiences, not things.

I built hair salon visits into my budget. Once per year for a maintenance Devacut $140, and once every TWO year for partial (ear to ear front) pintura highlights $165. So worth it! I would like to go more often, but my wallet says no 🙂.

My line item right now is going and getting my nails done. See I'm my husband's full-time caregiver (In Missouri Medicare does not pay spouses), and I work part-time outside the home. My husband was like babe go do something for yourself for awhile so from late March to June I decided would be my self-care spoiling time (lots of mental health issues I have during those months too many death anniversaries) Anyway I'm rambling, my point my line item is getting my nails done at the salon.

My mom did the same thing while caring for my stepdad’s end of life issues. Having her nails done made her happy. She would tell me she felt bad spending the money and I kept telling her to stop with that thinking…she looks at her nails 100+ times a day and it’s a little reminder of happiness that she carries around with her during this stressful time. Take care- not easy.

So sorry you lost your beloved cat! We get so attached to our fur babies and love them so much! 😢 I’ve never Door Dashed but maybe I will try it some day. I’ve been too cheap to try it, so far! I’ve thought about doing it for extra income though, but don’t know if it’s worth it in my small town? My biggest problem is wanting to buy good skin care and makeup these days! Fully agree! We fit in going out. One is Sunday lunch with other church people. The 2nd is if we eat from the meal list the whole week. We don't always follow that, though, having that expectation helps us to cook more at home so we can have a meal out Saturday or Sunday night. Also, the cat you held reminded me of our family cat. She was a great cat, and gave me a smile!

Great idea! What I would budget for will change from month to month...books, or garden stuff, or indoor decor, or flowers, or whatever. I haven't eaten out in years. It was expensive and I got sick a few times. You found a good way to deal with grief over a pet...that's hard.

While stopping at rest stop for gas and restrooms, I saw a dunkin donuts, I hadn't bought one in decades. So I looked for prices of 🍩, but there wasn't a price, so I asked the cashier, and she said $2.00 each. OMG...I laughed out loud, then when I told my husband, he laughed just as hard. Imagine $24, for a dozen. Heck that was roses, when we bought them for valentine's day, or mothers day. We don't pay for these convenience items. And truly, if you want a secure future, neither will you. Make a budget, make a shopping list, plan meals, and stick to it. Save, save, and save more. I promise you that you will need it.

I wont doordash or the like. And it has nothing to do with the cost. I have neighbors who use those services, and the other day I saw a older lady get out of the car to take the order to the door, and she barely could walk. My fear is one of those people who are desperate to make a few dollars will fall and then go after my home insurance for getting injured on my property. Then I would have to deal with that situation. No thank you I keep a few ingredients in my house that I can make a meal in 10 minutes with minimal clean up. Add a pack of paper plates that you would use in these situations and the clean up would be almost nothing. Then you have the reality of those services, the people who are bringing you the food are making nothing. When you add the wear and tear on their vehicles, and taxes that they will have to pay...they make nothing and the doordash app is just taking advantage of people.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love your story! And it made me laugh so hard👌 I used it a couple (5) of times over the last 4 years when it WAS NEEDED (hectic/ traumatic days in weeks without time to do groceries ) . It was not in our budget at that time, but we took it out personal spending budget for that moth. And it was fine and such a treath. If you have some treats planned in your budget life is way more fun. Does not have to be much. For a time it was a good quality 🍫 it might change over time. Now I saved up for travelling but i dont know when or where yet, travelling solo with my health its kind challenging... Any advice?

Happy Frugal Friday, KSQUAD! I have never door dashed but I do tend to impulse buy every 5 or 6 weeks. It’s like I’m on the frugal train, doing great and then I loose my mind for a day or two and shop. No one specific thing just a buying frenzy. Ugh. I never buy more than I can afford to pay but still it is unnecessary spending. After the frenzy, I go hard on frugal living so I guess it all evens out. 🤷‍♀️

My "thing" is spending $50, tip included, in getting my nails done once a month. My nails are brittle so i get the hardener over them and fresh new color. 😊

For me it's Starbucks, I love using the app to order my drink then just walk in and pick it up and leave. I can bring my own personal cup so save a little plus extra stars. No waiting in line, drink it in my car on my way into work. It helps me just feel good.

I used a Doordash type company recently buying takeout Chinese for three ppl. 2 entrees, 1 appetizer and a pint of soup. After fees and tip it was $100. It was my turn to treat so I did not say anything as not to look cheap and have someone else offer to pay. That is always an uncomfortable experience. I wanted to hurl. Sometimes these delivery apps pay off but other times not. I could have taken them out for a nice dinner for the same amount of cash.

It doesn't sound like much, but I budget for a Culver's frozen custard! Haven't had one recently though. I'm saving those $$'s for multiple bacon, egg & cheese biscuits made at home! 😊

I don’t DoorDash as we live in a rural area but one of my colleagues DoorDash’s quite a bit at $60 a night, seems a little crazy to me and addictive but honestly I can see how it could be useful especially if you’re at work all day and are too tired to go home and think about making dinner 😊

My weakness too! I would have a whole counter space of kitchen appliances and gadgets all lined up like little trophies if I could. Haha. Good thing we live full time in an RV so just a multicooker thing and blender. 😂

Thankfully we haven’t fallen into the DoorDash pattern but we do take out way too much. We do budget for it but are trying to keep some easy to fix connivence foods that we enjoy for those times we just don’t have the energy to cook.

Important tip* if you stop ordering for 2 week or more Doordash sends you coupons(like 0 dollar delivery fee, or $ off so much of your order)to try something new because it's been awhile 😉

Hi Maria! OOOh, okay I love to be as helpful as possible when topics are in my wheelhouse, but to be 100% truthful, I know very little about term life insurance, so I'd hate to offer bad advice in any way. KSquad, do any of you have more familiarity with this topic? Any thoughts?
