The campervan already has a Propex heater that runs off gas, but the gas canisters inside an Autosleeper Symphony are small, and they need to be used for the oven, hob and fridge too when off grid. Plus gas is getting more and more expensive, so a diesel heater as anither source of heating seems like a really good cheap option.
In this video, Karl shows you where and how he installs the diesel heater inside this Talbot Express Autosleeper Symphony campervan. Diesel heaters can also be installed inside motorhomes, RV's and caravans for a cheaper alternative to gas heating.

I think you get used to it, but it's noisy when it first starts up. Luckily the van is only small, so having it set to 1 gets it nice and warm. It will get from 10 to 20 degrees in there in about 45 minutes. They'd be great in a house lol, save all those sh*tty bills, that's for sure!

Not great Em at the minute. He's OK, but he won't even get up to go out for a wee or anything. He's got meds for 5 days and if there's no improvement he needs to go back. He's walking on three legs and we're presuming it's arthritis from his TPLO surgeries he had, but just have to wait and see. I'll message you later and explain a bit better.💜

I love these heaters iv put mine under the bed under the van . They say don't use that green fuel line to soft and it breaks down in time use micro beer line. Also not sure about that fuel tank setup once you spill that diesel all over the carpet it will stink van out . But very neat and tidy job
@roaminginraymond
@roaminginraymond Жыл бұрын
Karl researched about the green fuel line and is happy for it to be in there. We will keep an eye on it though to check it's doing OK. Don't think I should get any spillages, but we shall have to wait and see. I didn't want it in the wardrobe as that would be even worse and my clothes would stink of diesel.

You made it look so easy compared to every other video I’ve seen I did mine but I used a turret I also went direct to my fuel tank but leaving a good 3” from the bottom so it doesn’t run my fuel out 😂 amazing kit tho direct into my combi ducting I have the Hcalory 8.5k with the James silent pump AMAZING

Thanks very much for the kind comment. We couldn't do a fuel tank job as it's a petrol engine. Good idea to do it higher up though as you definitely wouldn't want to empty the tank.
@MakeDoAndMend1
@MakeDoAndMend1 Жыл бұрын
Did you take the fuel from top of tank or bottom. If you take it from bottom . Then fit a fuel tap. Makes it easier to remove tank full of fuel for servicing etc. Fuel pump will drive you mad as it will drum through wood and be amplified. Less thumping if mounted underneath van. I am not at expert but found out the hard way. With Herb our van. 😮 George
@mrbsp1
@mrbsp1 Жыл бұрын
Fuel is taken from the bottom, I never fitted a tap as don't need one, I've got a cap without a breather hole so can seal it and I also have lots of free play in the hose to easily remove it without any issues.

@@mrbsp1 Many thanks for your reply. I run mine on Paraffin or Kerosene or Domestic Heating oil. Whichever is cheaper. But not Diesel as Jane cannot stand smell of Diesel. This is on our Talbot but on the Mazda I run it Diesel from main tank. No smell as heater in engine compartment. George
@mrbsp1
@mrbsp1 Жыл бұрын
Yes I did think about useing paraffin as its a cleaner fuel.I may give that a go later on, we are useing red diesel as it 30p cheaper than normal diesel so we are happy with that, the camper is petrol so couldn't put a pick up in the tank ☹️ if it was diesel I would have, 👍

They're louder when they first start up, but then not so bad after. They're noisier when they are shutting down too. I only have it on 1 as it's a small van, and you have a sort of constant background noise, but it's not annoying or anything.
