Welcome to another video!!
I had to change the Akropovic exhaust, it just didnt give me the "fizz" I was after so decided to change it all by myself 😕 see how that turns out!

CAMERAS
l use a gopro hero 10 on my lids with an insta 360 to record
me and my surroundings.
l also have a DJI Mini 2 to capture my drone footage in my

Bro.. I'm sorry to tell you but what have you done??? You should have bought a decat and your bike would have sound awesome. I have the full akrapovic setup and my bike sounds amazing! That new exhaust looks terrible imo.. Just giving my honest opinion

Here's the S1000XR with the full Akra setup, stock exhaust can with the Akra headers. It's louder than stock, no question, but I don't think it's obnoxiously loud, certainly not below ~6K RPMs. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hL16mNKW2rmtnaM.html

What you've should have done is remove the exhaust valve servo instead of buying a coke can for an exhaust. It would be equally if not even louder with a standard or Akrapovic exhaust, then what you have now. I did it on mine, and i love every second of it.

I'd be interested to know how you removed the exhaust valve servo Mitch. Did you physically remove it, or is it just open via a ECU tune? I'm thinking of doing a Brentune on mine after it's first service, and just leaving the stock can on.

@@MrBlurgon it's basically physically removing the entire servo with cables and installing a healtech servo elminator in place to fool the ecu so you won't get any errors. From my experience, i feel the bike responds better after this mod is done. This is in my opinion for the cheapest way to get a decent sound.

You watched the vid yea?….I have NO idea what your on about 🤣🤣 honestly im crap with mechanics and all that so just went for the simplest option and to be honest its turned out perfect for me. Not to loud (which was my main concern) but gives it enough attitude for what i was after 👍🏻

@@lifeonmarshmoto all you needed was a servo eliminator. About 30quid or $60 Australian dollars. Simple fix

I have 2022 S1000XR and what i did is uncoil the wire on the flap control then tucked them in inside the black cover. The sound is dramatically louder and big growl as now the flap is always open unlike before, it will open only @ 6500 RPM. I dont have any dash warning. The OEM tip is actually lighter and no need to replace another slip on. Now if you want an obnoxious loud, just change the full system and go for cat delete.

I keep being told this…. And im getting more tempted! Did you just remove the black cover to uncoil the wire then refit the cover again?

@@lifeonmarshmoto yes, to make it easier just unscrew your rear set. To make more room. Then use 8mm wrench for the black cover. Now the trick to uncoil the wire is to get 10mm wrench, counter clockwise the outside bolts just to loosen then just lift so you can uncoil.

There is also a baffle in the akrapovič. But it’s a little weld holding it. Just so you know. :)

This was my original plan to remove the baffle, but after looking at it and speaking to XR forums and the dealership, apparently that particular exhaust doest come with a baffle strangely, it has a welding nut in it to be able to insert a baffle tho 🤔🤷‍♂️

I've bought Akra a couple times for my various bikes I've owned also. What I found is for the amount of money Akra charges $$$$$$. There are plenty of competitors that are much cheaper and give you more options sound wise.

You defiantly needed to take the DB killer out of the Akrpovic my k1300 was quite before i took out the DB killer it made a big difference 👍

I didnt have a baffle in it! 😕 Apparently according to XR forums and the dealership it comes without one and you can buy a db killer for it if its to loud 🤣

I’ve got the Cobra hypershots ultra short on mine. The sound is just madness once you get up in the revs!

Nothing to do with the end can. it's a euro 5 bike, 90%of the sound restrictions are built into the headers itself. You want sound, get headers. Yes Akraprovic headers. I added headers, problems solved, performance bump too (put it on the dyno for comparison). It's not too loud, just perfect

Yep get what your saying, all euro 5 bikes sound abit crap now unfortunately dont they. But i have to admit, put the pro race exhaust on did make a huge difference to the sound. I can imagine your sounds amazing with the akro headers!

Sorry bud didnt get a weight, but it hardly weighs anything! Lighter than the Akro. Performance is probably going to nothing as its just an end can, would need to change the headers for performance gains really, I just wanted it to sound better. Wait for next weeks vid, defiantly sounds better!

Does it pop like the Gen 1 used to when you let off the throttle?

I think because of euro 5 on my bike, its tonned down alot, but it does have a pop and crackle when you let off once the induction has kicked it. Have a look at the fly by vid and when I’m slowing down you can hear it crackling as i came to a stop. The gen 1 was just an animal of a machine but sounds amazing even standard!

I have tried it with them and it does fit fine, but maybe abit short so could get abit warm…il find out when i go on tour! 🤣

@@lifeonmarshmoto hahaha yeah thats what i was thinking. You got owt planned? I'm taking the Mrs on the XR cornwall beginning of may then nc500 with the lads end of may. Was hoping to have full akro but its looking like a stupid delay on delivery.

Yea, im off to lake district in june and wales in july. If i really need (which i really dont want to) ive still got the Akro, il put that back on for the trips if the pro race causes an issue. il have to test it out before i go anywhere. Didnt really think that bit through as never had panniers before 😕

i watched your video on yout acessories and regarding your handguard extenders so i ordered some simular to yours and i dont know if you have sussed this but those you fitted are designed to go inside your stock handguards

Are you able to remove that ball sack of a catalytic converter off where you live? You would get a whole different perspective on an akra exhaust without the cat. Otherwise, you're just playing with the little bit of air that comes out.

😂 yea i can to be fair, but so many people said putting a straight through exhaust on would make the bike unbearably loud and i didnt want that as i do long days on it.
