I was looking for help to fix cornices in my new kitchen that have unusual angles ie not 45⁰. This video was exactly what I needed and told me everything I needed to know. I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly so.... thank you, this was really helpful!

Tim, An experienced Wren Kitchens fitter told me of a more accurate and safer way for cutting a traditional cornice profile (as per your cornice); The notch on the back of this profile is for using a support strip of wood screwed to the back of the power compound mitre saw table. This wood strip is usually needs to be nominally ~60mm high, but as this is profile specific the supplied cornice it must be measured, an engineers square is best. It takes a bit of preparation but is a good investment. The cornice notch in the back is then supported by this support strip with the top edge of the cornice supported on the saw table. These two support points keep the cornice at the correct installed angle while being cut. As the cornice is cut face up this method also has the added advantage of hiding any potential tear-out on the back of the cornice.

Finally plucked up the courage to fit our cornice today. Yours was the first video I thought of to help me and it worked a treat. Fixing them down to the sacrificial board helped get the angles perfect! Keep up the great work mate! Thanks again!

Hi Tim,Over the last week I have watched almost all your videos which I have found to be very enjoyable & extremely helpful. Most of all it has given me the inspiration to tackle a number of jobs in our own forthcoming house restoration that I would otherwise have opted to pay a tradesman to do.Thanks for all the time & effort you put into producing the videos and good luck with your future projects which I will be following with great interest.

+John Roberts Glad to hear they videos are of help. It never means to be a tutorial type channel, but more of an encouragement to get others to have a go so good to hear that it's having that effect! Cheers, Tim

Really useful and helpful post. I have not used two part glue but your demonstration clearly shows that this is so much better than pva for this type of trimming. The oak doors look great and certainly have character.

Tim, great build quality and attention to detail (as usual). You didn't seem to mention why your pelmet doesn't go directly below your doors. I know it's your own kitchen and maybe it was personal preference, but commercially the pelmet is so big as it sticks out from the cupboards and is flush with the doors, it doesn't stick down. An important detail if any of your audience get paid to install someone else's kitchen. That's why the pelmet was so deep, not to stick down, but to stick out. Keep up the good work. Cheers

+Nathan Brown When we looked at the store displays this pelmet was the deep way down so would have hung down an extra 25mm or so which we didn't want. I had looked at bringing it flush to the front however the slight difference in the oak colour was more noticeable being directly next to them so we kept it back. I have since had a look at a few others and it seems that there is a mixture of positions but more are flush with the front as you mentioned. There is a lot in this kitchen which is probably rather unique/incorrect, but it seems to be working! ;-) Tim

The angle of the bisect for the corner angled wall unit should be 22.5 degrees. Tim rather than using the compass once you have marked your bevel just get the ruler part of your combo square run it against the edge of wood your marked from, pencil line. Use the same ruler along your first pencil line and your have bisected the angle much quicker mate. Less complicated to be showing other viewers how to do aswell. 👍🙂

Tear-out is my big issue, glossy stuff from B&Q, I'm finding the evolution blade no good but I'll definitely try that glue.

Use a blade with at least 40 teeth, the more teeth the finer the cut.

Just out of curiosity, what makes this one less substantial? It's not up there to hold water or be the sides of a dog bed :)

I usually grab a few PCs of scrap and cut on the saw the angle by eyeballing and 90% of the time I get it the first time 😂 don’t need to spend all that extra time and money on gadgets 🤦‍♂️
