RestoMod 1977 Kawasaki KZ650 | CafeRacer Custom Motorcycle : #100
With the conversion bearings in from AllBallsRacing.com we fit the 2003 Yamaha YZF R6 forks to the 1977 Kawasaki KZ650B. Once we have the right size bearings it all goes surprisingly smoothly and is a good fit.
Swapping forks on a motorcycle can be a challenging task, but it is possible with the right tools and knowledge. Here are the general steps involved in swapping forks:
Research: Before swapping forks, you should research the new fork you plan to install and make sure it will fit your motorcycle frame and wheel. You may need to change other parts, such as the triple tree or wheel axle, to accommodate the new fork.
Remove the old forks: You will need to remove the old forks from your motorcycle. This typically involves removing the front wheel, brake calipers, handlebars, and any other parts that attach to the fork. You will also need to remove the fork from the triple tree.

Install the new forks: Once you have removed the old forks, you can install the new forks. This involves installing the fork in the triple tree, attaching the front wheel, and connecting the brake calipers.
Adjust the new forks: Once the new forks are installed, you will need to adjust them to match the geometry of your motorcycle. This involves adjusting the fork height, fork angle, and preload.
Test ride: Before riding your motorcycle with the new forks, you should test ride it to ensure that everything is working properly. Check the handling, steering, and braking to make sure the new forks are working as intended.
It's important to note that swapping forks can affect the handling and performance of your motorcycle, so you should make sure you understand the changes you are making and how they will impact your ride. If you are not comfortable performing this task, it is recommended that you seek the help of a professional mechanic.

Nice job on the #forkswap on this #Kawasaki #caferacer project. Those #YamahaR6 forks seemed to be easier to fit than the GSXR forks on the #Honda #CB750

I have same lifting style as you, and I found out that it's way more easier to do the front end when you take wheel of and forks of from triples. :)

It does seem a little over the top but it is safe and makes access easy :)

Time to swap the original forks out for the Yamaha R6 front end. A lot easier than it was on the Honda CB750
