Fittings 101: NPT & NPTF

The National Pipe Taper is a USA standard for threads. It’s commonly used on pipes and fittings. The NPT fittings seal pipes to prevent leaks of fluid and gas transfer. They are available in different materials like iron and brass, but those are best suited for low pressure applications. If the application is higher pressure, it’s necessary to use materials like carbon and stainless steel.

Can we just be done with NPT and go to all metric straight fittings with seals or metric cone seat please? Hahaha. It doesn't help that countless retailers sell NPS fittings as NPT or call them NPT straight and all sorts of other nonsense. Makes compatibility a nightmare due to incorrect information. At least AN/JIC is fairly simple, even though it can mislead you on actual tube diameters. Great video, BTW.
