The guilt will never go away, losing someone on deployment is one of the hardest things to go through. Everyday is a battle to keep going. But keep at I know it's hard but you have to push through.

I hope you never have to know the pain of losing someone you love like that. Me and my best friend joined up together, went to basic together and were deployed together. I ended up escorting his remains home. It almost killed me.

I've been a firefighter for nearly 25 years. Our rates of suicide, divorce, and other mental health issues are high as well as EMS and 9/11 call takers and dispatchers. First responders and military I like to think of as part of an extended brotherhood.

Long line of military then police, current mil so. My dad got med sept only months before 9/11. I remember the terror of of he could be recalled. I don't think the guys were called, but signed up in the video though. People who don't have family or haven't deployed are the only ones excited to deploy. Seeing shit on the news is terrifying, especially the last few years.

This song is so hard for me. But I still listen to it sometimes. Then I saw what day it is. Tomorrow is the day my life turned upside down. No one prepares us to run calls and it’s our parent. Being there in 30 seconds and still can’t fix it. (Not to mention I had a dream shortly before and saw him in a casket) and my dad was fine. For the funeral I told my brother to pick out clothes for him because I couldn’t, I had seen it in my dream and I wasn’t about to pick that out for him…. My brother didn’t know about my dream. When I saw him, it was the same room as my dream, the walls were even the same color, and my dad (even though I made sure I didn’t say anything about his clothes, were EXACTLY what he was wearing in my dream, which my brother bought). It messed me up. It still does. And tomorrow is that day for me, the day after is his birthday. And in EMS to see the things I have, some used to haunt me but after that I got very numb or as numb as I could. But no there’s a lot of what we see every day that no one wants to see and we do just have to live with it. Public safety has that task here, military does it everywhere. And it’s why I was not going to let whoever that was say anything about you wearing your police hat. You have to earn it and keep going through it every day. When you know you know. Man these videos always get to me. 5 guys that my dad served with in iraq have taken their own lives from ptsd and a few killed in action for our freedom and to keep us all safe . Just like you do brother i respect you to the fullest for serving your community as a police officer my brother in-law is a police officer in Portland Oregon area and my cousins husband is a police officer in Washington State. There is a song , not sure if you have been requested it or have heard the song. Its called hero of war by a band called rise against. There an amazing band with a lot of great messages in there music. But hero of war is beyond words... its so much more hard hitting than this and wrong side of heaven. The way war is depicted in that song/video is harrowing

Hey bud - appreciate your perspective on this. I've been a vet for quite some time now and it's definitely a weird place in the civilian world. I just wanted to extend my love and appreciate to you on the blue line because our Police are probably the best supporters and helpers of our community stateside. I know it can be hard and even dangerously unpredictable dealing with returning veterans and I wish I had the answer. I do know I absolutely hate what our country has been doing to the Police - especially when good innocent officers pay the price for the fuck ups. I remember a local officer here a young kid named Jack - a great guy... young upbeat and we talked routinely. Last I had seen of him, he had just dealt with a local veteran suicide in the community. It reminded me of what you said you were dealing with routinely and I can say I seen the traumatic transformation happen to him in just a short time. I heard he was doing ok got some type of R&R sabbatical maybe - but it was obvious he was internally scarred for life. He had just spoken with the veteran and received a call back and found him deceased. It was devasting to all of us because we have a tight knit community and try to stay connected to help each other and we let one slip between the cracks. I hope and wish the best for you good sir - to this channel owner and for yours and your family sakes never forget it's ok to call it quits when enough is enough - your family needs you more than anything. Don't become broken beyond repair.

FFDP - When the seasons change. That's one you'd get in the feels for. I was always happy for deployment, that enviroment just gets my rocks off. I personally found more in going private to the fucked up shit. The Saudi's paid well when Yemen was really kicking off.
