Maybe when he says"She" for God, he's talking about America, Lady Liberty and when he says "He" for the devil is the Government. I'm a vet and thats what I got from the lyrics.

Not really religious here, but Ive studied a bit of biblical lore. The "god is a man" thing is due to the social norms of the society that wrote the book. God and the angels are described as genderless several times, So saying he or she is technically correct for both god and lucifer. IT is both genders and no gender at the same time.

I would like to start this with honest gratitude for those whom have served...my grandfather barely survived pearl harbor. This song is great. And I love mainly the "Way of the Fist" album, but I'm so glad they made this. Not looking for likes but can I get a salute for those that have fallen?

It could be by God, F.F.D.P. meant the innocent part of one’s self or of one’s life, such as loved ones back in the States (sweetheart, wife, daughter, etc.), while by the Devil, they mean the questionable side of their life that both soldiers and vets had to be fashioned to for combat (fighting skirmishes in populated areas, UAV Ops, shooting a child because they were carrying a bomb to a convoy, torture (that came off the top of my head, but that’s more in the realm of the C.I.A, but it’s reasonable to say “it’s to protect the national security of the country” in this case as well), etc.

Hard to explain to 2 guys that didn't spend time in the military how much this song means to vets... We do/did for those who can't/won't. We love all of you guys the same, but love our country and what she stands for more. I have no children of my own, but I know that my God Son and niece live in a safer world because of the acts of our military. I wanted to be a part of what "we" do enough that I joined at 17 and had to have my parents sign a waiver for me. I love all of you that much. I heard a marine's reaction the other day to someone telling him, "Thank you for your service.".... he replied, "You're worth it." Well said, marine.

We appreciate your gratitude but for most we think that it is something that most be done and we are or were willing to do it. I was recently thanked for my service in the army and I replied that I did what any America should be honored to do. Less than 1% of the population of America serves and I am proud to have been apart of that.

I did 8 years in the army and got hurt out of duty and I felt like I was thrown away like trash...bc of that injury I got hooked on pain meds...yeah that was a personal problem but I over came it....I loved my battles and my job but I could've been done better. Also I tried to get education befits after I got clean and was turned down since I was army national guard...guard or no guard I was still a army Component and deserved and earned whatever was promised...either way this is a great song and I'm making it in school so all's well. Well damn... As a Marine, I gotta tell you that this song and Bad Company got me through some rough times while I was deployed. It hit home hard as I watched a buddy of mine fight, and lose to his own demons, a very short time after coming home to his family. I never understood why, and I know i'm not the only one. It really brought a tear to my eye when I saw this video for the first time, seeing that someone out there was noticing and using their fame and public voice to put it out there... Kudos to you guys for checking this out. Now, onto a lighter note: you've listened to 5 finger, you've listened to Sevendust, Attempt 16: Give Fire from the gods - "Excuse me" a listen. Seen a lot of people react to it, but nobody breaks down songs and does an in-depth analysis like you do. I want to see your take on it. Their frontman is one of the best I've seen in metal in a long time. Just heard them last year for the first time and immediately put him up there along with LJ from Sevendust and Ivan Moody from 5FDP.

Hey! Out of curiosity, do Americans genuinely believe that there is some mysterious threat across the oceans that they feel its ok to send their brothers and sons to possibly die there or return home a broken person? As an outsider it baffles me because the way I see it, those wars serve only one purpose and that is American control over politics, resources and keeping the dollar as the worlds main currency. I dont see no real threat to your homeland that would warrant what your army does in those countries.

I watched the towers burn at ground zero, joined the army, served three years as a cannon crewmember in the 10th Mtn Division. Volunteered for combat multiple times and was denied an opportunity to fight. Then I tore my shoulder in training two years later and my unit accused me of trying to avoid combat. They denied me healthcare for six months and by then my injury was permanent. I spent the last year of my service on a funeral honor guard team, folding flags for dead soldiers. Fifteen years later I still cry every time the memory of those funerals comes back to me. Discarded like trash when the army had no more use for me, left to relive all the horrible memories of the hundreds of funerals I had to witness. Now, all you hear about is islamaphobia this, islamaphobia that. Soldiers are forgotten by society, and eventually chastised.

This music video brings me to tears every time. My Dad was a Vietnam Veteran and he got injured. He raised three sons on $1200 a month. Me and my older brother joined the military and our Dad was proud of us. When he was diagnosed with cancer we had to fight the VA to get him treatment. When he died, we had to wrestle with VA over the bills. I'm worried what it will be like for my family when me and my brother start to go.

First video of yours that I saw and I keep coming back to it, it is just great how you guys truly feel and appreciate not just the music, but the message. I tried hard, I Was in Afghanistan in 09. Lost a buddy there, I got home, went to school, became a medical professional. I thought that I could help myself by helping others. I descended into madness, lying to myself. I eventually lost my job and my apartment, nearly lost my life to my own hand. I was on a waiting list for the VA for months until the police got involved because I tried to kill myself. I can no longer work and am fully disabled, even though I look fine on the outside. Counselling and medication keeps me functional, but just barely. There are not enough resources out there to help all the vets that need it and I know there are guys and girls much worse off than me. And we are also part of the problem, because someone who is a warrior, who is willing to die for others and sees themselves as a protector feels weak and powerless when asking for help. It takes more strength than we ever showed in battle to admit that we can't beat something, when all our lives we've been beating the odds, overcoming impossible obstacles, doing things that normal people would never attempt. But even we can't fight the demons in our head alone. Nobody can.

I know this is an old comment, but just wanted to wish you well. I understand completely. I got back 8 years ago from Iraq and still am struggling. The military drills into you the whole time to not show you're hurting, physically or mentally. It's always toughen up soldier. So they teach you indepedence and toughness which makes asking for help really hard. I lost a friend as well in Iraq and believe I am dealing with "survivors guilt". I was brave enough to go to war, but am too chicken shit to ask for help. It's easy to fix a broken bone, but the brain is a crazy thing.

I find myself blaming a society that has never experienced war or conflict for their dismissive and unappreciative attitude towards servicemen and women. Thank you for your service--you are a warrior sir. We should be honoring each and every one of you and showing how much you are appreciated and respected. There's not enough of that provided to any of our vets, but others of us do recognize how lucky we are to have men like you around. I have worked in community mental health for nearly 5 years as both a community support provider and a therapist. Part of the reason many veteran's are homeless is because the experience of war has caused a physical disability, led to the onset of mental (not just limited to post-traumatic stress disorder), or both. These factors can also be compounded by the fact that many veterans have poor or limited access to physical or behavioral healthcare - or don't seek it at all due to stigma or other reasons. This sometimes leads to veterans to cope with their pain, depression, trauma, or other symptoms with alcohol or other drugs - leading to addiction in many cases. Because of these things, many veterans are unable to secure long-term housing or maintain stable employment (or work at all). The agency I work for has a department that receives a yearly grant specifically to help veterans and their families that are homeless or that are at risk of being homeless find housing, and are able to provide cash benefits to help with the transitional costs of getting into stable housing. One veteran I helped, because of his mental illness, did not even realize he was entitled to disability benefits until I helped him apply for them - and this is probably 10+ years after he had been out of the service. But money isn't always enough. Even a veteran that got transitional funds to get into stable housing, and is receiving monthly VA or Social Security benefits to be able to afford monthly living expenses still could end up homeless if symptoms are not treated. As mentioned earlier, if a veteran self-medicates with drugs/alcohol to cope with physical/mental health symptoms, then a veteran could spend his/her money on drugs - leading the veteran to be evicted and be out on the streets again. These veterans with such acute behavioral or drug/alcohol issues often lead to friends and family members being pushed away - leading to some veterans having little to no supports to help them out in times of need or helping them to get linked to treatment. Keep in mind that symptoms of PTSD include irritability, anger outbursts, and estrangement/isolation from others. If the veteran is also depressed (also likely), they may experience irritability, isolation, worthlessness, and avolition (lack of motivation/will to do things) as well. Here's the takeaway: to really help end homelessness in the veteran population in a lasting way they will need financial resources, supports (ideally from family/friends and/or a community agency), and treatment. My suggestion for readers that are veterans or know a veteran to get linked with treatment - especially if there is behavioral and/or drug/alcohol issues. For those with limited or poor access to a VA hospital, ask about the Veterans Choice Program (VCP). If the veteran lives 40 or more miles away from the nearest VA or has to wait 30 or more days for the soonest appointment, the veteran can seek treatment (including behavioral health and drug/alcohol treatment) at a local agency of their choice and have it paid by the VA. The full name of the act that includes VCP is called: "Veterans' Access to Care through Choice, Accountability, and Transparency Act of 2014." It was a bill that added about $2 billion to help improve accessibility to healthcare for veterans and received support from both political parties, including Republican Senator John McCain and independent senator Bernie Sanders. It was signed into law by President Barack Obama in August of 2014 and President Donald Trump signed an extension to the act in April of 2017. For more details about VCP can be found here (if KZfaq will let me link it): www.va.gov/health/NewsFeatures/2017/July/Things-to-Know-About-the-Veteran-Choice-Program.asp Hope this helps.

You are not wrong. So many people with funds to help don't help, but feel free to criticize everyone involved. Five Finger Death Punch are HUGE supporters of the military. Not my favorite band, but I do respect them immensely for that. BTW, One of the guitar players, zoltan bathory, is supposedly a military hand to hand combat instructor.

USAF vet here. Let me just say that I served proudly and every vet that took that oath with me at the MEPS station knows we did so, not asking for a damn thing! All we ever expected was respect for giving the United States government and its citizens a blank check with our names on it, saying "we offer our service, up to and including our lives, if necessary". This song and video really hits you in the feels and reminds me how selfless my brothers and sisters in arms are! Never pass up an opportunity to thank an active duty soldier or vet for their service!

This video and it's message hurts to my very soul. I agree with you guys. No veteran should suffer. As far as the female God and the male devil, my interpretation is, the female is the nurturer/giver of life where as the male is the aggressor /historical war bringer. I'm sure many will disagree but as I said, it's just my interpretation. Love your videos guys! Keep them coming!!

My step dad is a vet, I lived with the aftermath of PTSD, with the injustice. He shot himself in the head, he somehow survived it, but that man is so messed up, he struggles more than anyone else I know, emotionally and financially, and it is SO unfair! I have so much respect for vets and those currently in the military. I HATE how this country has failed them! I love my step dad, even though he and my mom ended up divorcing, he will always be my dad! So when I say he's 'messed up', I don't mean that disrespectfully, it's just the unfortunate truth.

This song makes me cry every time. I myself am a veteran. And I have had my share of tragedies mainly from natural disasters (Harvey, Ike, Rita) but there are more cases of soldiers who are just cast aside by society and that is more heartbreaking than when your family cast you aside. I worked communications in the m,ilitary. BUt coming off the plane I had people with signs calling me a baby killer and all kinds of stuff. I just was a man looking to provide my family with a future, with or without me. Thanks for watching the vid and respecting the message as well as championing it. I battle with ptsd everyday and I also made 3 attempts on my own life. The va finally started to help me rediscover who I am and find my purpose. I can say it's a long fight even after combat to feel some sort of normalcy but I for one will be there for my brothers and sisters just like they are there for me.
