Food is important to the body. It helps us grow and live a healthy life.
We need to eat all 5 food groups in order to get all the nutrients we need. It means we need to eat a balanced diet.
What is a balanced diet?
Balanced diet is eating the right amount of food from the 5 food groups.
Group 1
Food with Proteins
Proteins help build muscles and bones.
Proteins make us grow taller and stronger.
Proteins give energy and repair damaged tissues
Group 2
Food that gives us carbohydrates
Carbohydrates give us energy.
Group 3
Food that gives us vitamins and minerals
Vitamins and minerals keep us young and healthy.
Food that give us strong immune system.

Group 4

Food with lots of fats
Fats give us energy and make us feel warm.
