Here's what you can do with a full set of Villainy Ink Enamel Washes.
Hopefully these 5 recipes will make you enjoy some Grimdark Style painting!

White Armor, a couple of nasty Flesh recipes, some rusted Iron and Gold.

For those who are completely new to the world of oils, could you do a video covering the "logistics" of it? How do you clean your brushes? What types of containers do you use to hold the mineral washes? Can we see a photo or video of your setup before you start to work?

Acrylic paint took a monopoly hold over wargaiming hobby, and Im so glad that you are helping to show people that there are other products that suit specific needs! It is truly a world of wonder when you discover possibilities of enamels and oils as additional tools in our hobby arsenal

Litigious society and "Mmmm that paint water looks good to drink" painters. Also brush lickers. I use both. It's cold outside in winter and they stink. Now winter and summer are more fun.

Hello from France, just ordered a set of your enamel washes and am currently binging your videos to make the most out of it. 24 Oz bottles are no joke this set will last a long time, just came back to the hobby after a long pause, dusted off the half a dozen SoB boxes i bought at their new release a few years back and had to immedialty put away because life and stuff? Time to start building and converting the grimdark sisters army i've wanted for almost 20 years, gonna use the old metal models i bought back then to try out color schemes.

I received my Villainy Ink collection (in the UK) a couple of weeks ago, and they absolutely didn't disappoint. I've already painted a few minis from Bloodborne with just the washes, and Ichor of the Damned is now my new go-to for adding shading very quickly.

Love the video! Could you do a tutorial for a more realistic old gold? The blue/green looks unreal since gold doesn’t oxidize.

Love seeing these videos. You make it all look so easy! What type of paint brushes do you use with your enamals? Im hesitant to use my nice sable brushes.

Oh no! Don't use expensive brushes for solvent based products. Keep those for fine brush work with acrylics. Use synthetic brushes, but don't break the bank. As long as they are decent and solid. I use Royal & Langnickel.

Do more of these please! The problem with the whole grimdark style was the perceived "difficulty" and challenge of learning a different painting style. If you can build up a selection of basic recipe style videos like these showing the products in use to make simple paint schemes you could definitely get more people on board!

We'll see when Skaventide launches for that. About filtering: yes of course. Dilute the washes with 3 parts water and a little bit of glaze medium. Go with multiple light passes and slowly build up the hue. Of course needs some extra brushwork to make sure the filter integrates nicely with no staining.

Thanks a lot for the video. The first example is exactly what i will do to my new sisters. exactly the tone i was looking for. you chose a greenish paint for the eyes, but i guess the crimson wash with the purple touch will also do the trick and suits sisters, right?

We have a course on the GDC for Sisters of Battle with a more nuanced recipe/process for armor, the one showed in this video is a simplified and faster version of that. So yeah that's perfect for Sisters. Yeah you can make it work easy. Just keep in mind that Carrion Crimson wash is designed for flesh effects as you see in recipe 2 of this video. Wouldn't recommend for armor or clothes as it dries satin to gloss with granules for mottling. Thanks for your comment!

So how much does the overall look change if you prime grey, spay the whole thing with the green-shade, and then zenithal with the titanium white? I'm also curious how much the color/finish changes if in your first enamel step if you skip the drying and just move directly to wiping off your highlights with a dry cotton bud or sponge. Also what about dot filtering the metal with the smoke before adding the rust enamel and then scumbling with a brush that is just damp with the rust?

Yeah. Just takes more time and back and forth to make it look clean and even. Washes mixed with water and glaze medium and do multiple, light transparent passes.

So is the hairdried needed for drying it? I tried the washes and they stayed wet and glossy for even 24 hrs. I mixed them well, even broke them up with a stir stick. I have a hair drier on hand, but I would have not guessed I have to use one to get it to dry matte

Hair dryer mainly needed to flash off any liquid base that is present on model/surface. Which colors stayed wet and glossy? Check out the Resource Page in description to know exactly how they behave.

If I may offer a suggestion for these kinds of videos, I've yet to see anyone do darker skin tones in this style. As someone who fields a full Catachan army for 40k painted in the style of the cover of the 3rd edition codex, I'd like to try these methods to replicate a similar tone that art poster that came with the Cadia Stands box set for the Astra Militarum, but I feel it won't have the right effect or be too indistinct. TL;DR how to grimdark black skin.
