You’re a great communicator man. Everything you’re speaking of is instinctual for me but I don’t think I could explain it like you do. You have some of the most informative material out there. Keep it up.

Just found your page, I’m relatively new to Fly Fishing and even newer the tight lining. I started Fly Fishing with Project Healing Waters a year and a half ago the guys that have taught me up to this point Eric, but they don’t always explain things in a matter that makes it easy to because they are Fly Fisher, not teachers. The way you have explained the concept of tight lining on a mono rig is the best I’ve ever seen, and has opened my eyes to how it can be most effective. Thank you for helping me get one stet closer to being able to grasp tight lining.

This video/information is the key to taking your (my) euro nymphing to the next level. So simple, straight to the point, very well described. Continuing to build off of the previous tip and explain how valuable the techniques can be is so helpful. Cannot wait to apply this to my fishing.

Dom, you guys are really hitting your stride on content plus production values, I even thought the Skwala ad component was tastefully done and not too intrusive. Own a sun hoodie from them and it is a favorite/high quality. Decided to watch the video again having to drink Broken Heels every time you say “contact” and my wife did not approve of the outcome! Best and you guys keep up the good work! Bill

Very well presented; clear and concise. I especially appreciate the “backing barrel” tip; and I reviewed the associated article. I have been adding the same “indicator” to my leaders for a while. I appreciate seeing the way you tied them, as I have been tying mine with two pieces of (usually) different color backing using a blood knot. Once cinched down tight, it can still be slid up and down the leader/sighter as needed. It even works on tapered leaders as long as you tighten at the “tippet end” of the leader, and then slide it up to a thicker section. Seeing your example, I’ll probably start tying mine that way as it would be simpler/faster; I prefer having the two tags, but I’ll try it with one as well. Thanks again for the great info.

Your audio quality with both mics, the video graded to accentuate the environment, the knowledge and very detailed instruction is absolutely amazing.. I went with an all mono euro setup, the sighter is important both as strike indicator and depth gage, by leading that fly you're slightly lifting and turning that fly and letting it fall dead thru the current. I use the bottom of that sighter to keep me aware of where I'm at depthwise as I'm just making and breaking contact with the fly. I use splitshot and unweighted flies with this setup, the feel is exceptional. About 1/2 the strikes i get i know the fish is on before it does..the flies stop, the current pulls rod tip down like a snag, lol.. line goes tight n bam!! Fish on. very fun way to fish.

Nice! I like the tweak of seeing the sighter in hand - it's hard to see exactly what people mean when it's "real speed" in the water. Slowing it down in hand really makes it easy to understand *before* getting the line in the current. Keep it up!

@@Troutbitten One quick question if you don't mind. Is it ok to have sighter go in the water? You mentioned not to change tippet all the time. So do you fish the sighter partially in the water at times?
@Troutbitten
@Troutbitten Жыл бұрын
@@steelhead6368 Almost never do I put the sighter under the water. One of the things that provides the tight line advantage in the first place is having just one diameter of material under the water. So unless my sighter is about 5x, it will cause drag, at least to some level. Couple Troutbitten articles for you . . . troutbitten.com/2021/04/05/the-tight-line-advantage-across-fly-fishing-styles/ troutbitten.com/2017/05/31/tight-line-nymphing-sighter/ Those will help you out, I think. And be sure to follow the linked articles within. Any text in orange is a link to an applicable article. Have fun out there.

My go-to nymphs are here, in this article: Troutbitten Fly Box -- Seventeen Confidence Nymphs troutbitten.com/2019/09/29/troutbitten-confidence-flies-seventeen-nymphs/ I fish that set, year round. Those nymphs cover everything you can encounter on a trout stream. There are about five in that set that could cover a Tan Caddis. Try the Walt's, Pheasant Tail and Bread -Butter. Cheers.

Have to make one request… love your videos but sure would love to see you put the lesson into practice and catch at least one fish on video, especially with the quality of your camera work. Thanks!
@Troutbitten
@Troutbitten Жыл бұрын
Thank you. And that's a fair request. Look back through, because many of the videos do have fishing sequences in them, but this one does not. It was simply getting too long already, for what we were shooting for. In the last ten months or so, I've been building something here on KZfaq, as a companion to the website and the podcasts, and it may not follow the formula that many expect -- meaning, these videos may be a little different than what else is out there. We started with the Mono Rig series, then the Troutbitten Tips Series, then the Troutbitten Fly Box series. My big (too big) winter project is a Fish Along series, and in that, you'll get exactly what you are asking for. The focus in the Fish Along series will be catching trout. I'm producing those myself, so learning video filming and editing has been a years long process. But it's fun. And I'm excited to get the Fish Along video series kicked off in the springtime. Step by step, right? One thing I learned long ago -- you simply cannot put everything in one article/video/podcast. Thanks again for your support. Cheers.
