Sounds good. We really need to make sure that there is no corporate involvement at all in future governments. It worries me that Starmer seems to have dispensed with the Labour membership (or any part of it that doesn't agree with him) - raising the question: how much will Starmer owe his corporate backers? If he wants to lay the groundwork for our future, he needs to have a legislative programme to get rid of corporate and billionaire money from politics altogether.

Let's get the NHS back under proper governance. A local hospital in my region has a department for blood tests. A few months ago I needed a routine non urgent test. At the time I didn't have technology either. However, on a previous visit I was shown how to book myself in and wait, so this is what I attempted to do. Umm....... I was immediately approached by someone saying I couldn't do this as it was an emergency only clinic. So, I queried this and escalated it with some frustration. Eventually, the nurse in charge came to discuss this with me. She confirmed this clinic was for emergencies only. So I pointed out there were 18 empty chairs. "Were they expecting a lot of emergency appointments? Her reply was. "People only arrive a few minutes before their appointment." Unbeknownst to this nurse I went away and then came back around 15 to 20 mins later to check how many people had arrived for their "emergency" blood test. The same number of available seats remained. What a waste of NHS resources. I would like to add the nurse did fit me in as I didn't know the system had changed. Over to you Sir Keir Starmer. The Conservative government are deliberately and systematically destroying the NHS.

To achieve the "highest sustained growth in the G7" a good start would be to re-join the EU as quickly as possible. Brexit has cost us 4% of GDP. The majority of the UK electorate is in favour of re-joining the EU. It is utterly baffling why Labour is not committed to re-joining. For many of those who want to be in the EU again current Labour policy is one huge disappointment.
@ogribiker8535
@ogribiker8535 Жыл бұрын
The policies on Brexit are to form ever closer ties to the EU, this means moving the UK back in-line with the EU to make rejoining easier. Labour have been very clear that all policies on Brexit are for the next parliment only!. We are not rejoining any time soon (unfortunatly and it's not up to us anyway). Also the majority of the electorate are not in favour of re-joining!, thinking it was a mistake is VERY different from wanting to rejoin. The reality is if Labour stated that they would rejoin in the next parliment they probably wouldn't win a working majority and might even lose all together !.

@@loolfactorie Oh you utter twat !!!!. The EU is run by elected officials voted in by proportional representation meaning if you get 46% of the votes you get 46% of the seats, the UK has first past the post where 46% of the votes gets you 100% of the power, and unelected officials like Lord Frost. If you actually love democracy then you should be utterly ashamed we left.
@loolfactorie
@loolfactorie Жыл бұрын
@@ogribiker8535 I don't want any policies being dictated by representatives of other nations that I have nothing to do with, nor live in. The heads of the EU were not voted for my citizens either, so you are the twat if you think that is a democracy. Last time I checked, we elect a parliament and prime minister in this country that elect their own officials, which is the point of a parliament. Maybe you need to do your homework on how parliaments work and also work on your English skills.
@andrewcawdell
@andrewcawdell Жыл бұрын
@@loolfactorie re "a union that has unelected officials making decisions for me and my nation" I would agree with you if that was true. Legislation has to be agreed by two EU institutions, one of which is the European Parliament made up of MEPs who are elected by the people of Europe every five years. In the UK there are about 400,000 civil servants, i.e. unelected bureaucrats, working in government. Many of these are involved in preparing legislation. Draught bills are examined and debated by the unelected House of Lords. The unelected head of state plays a constitutional role in opening and dissolving Parliament and approving Bills before they become law. The last two prime ministers were "elected" by a tiny fraction of 1% of the electorate. In the UK we do not elect our civil servants, members of the Lords or the head of state, and the vast majority of us had no say in the appointment of the last two prime ministers. The EU legislative process is actually more democratic than the UK. Info on EU legislative process here, or you could just look it up for yourself. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36429482 blogs.lse.ac.uk/lseupr/2019/02/19/is-the-european-union-governed-by-unelected-bureaucrats/

I'll vote labour in the next election regardless, but even before I liked what I was hearing (e.g. I paid attention) I was doing it anyways. @Donny but without a hateful home secretary and can feasibly do something without caring about their fringe far right elements. (I keep hearing the term tory civil war) even if the politics are the same, its not real a excuse to Diss on them, I'd they're so similar then we'd see less tories using short sentences that say little and they'd actually just vote, I'll happily eat my words if you care to elaborate though. Otherwise just makes your thoughts known on election day instead of spreading nonsense without context or explanation. Short rhetoric without context or explanation are the source of most of our problems since Johnson was elected.

@@invernessfan3017 Starmer's a Red Tory!! Sunak said this when he was a student, people say stupid stuff when they're young, he admits it was a stupid thing to say. Keir Starmer doesn't represent the working class, Labour's not what it used to be! You can't say the Deputy Labour Leader's for the working class either - she put her personalised airpods AND her energy bills on expenses! In Scotland labour messed up so badly they allowed the snazi party in. For that I will never forgive them or vote for labour again. You only have to look at people who attend the snp party meetings to see the degeniriousy ozing from these liberals. They would have us be 2nd class citizens in our own country, behind illegal immigrants if they could get away with it.

One of the benefits of leaving the EU (maybe the only one) would be to enable us to democratize our utilities and infrastructures by putting them fully into the hands of the people who work in them and use them. Nationalization into cooperative companies where every citizen is a member.

First ten pledges, now five missions - by the time starmer gets into power we'll probably down to half of a vague notion. There's nothing in here that wouldn't look odd on a tory manifesto - which raises the real question - what is the point of the labour party if they're not going to change anything apart from the colour of the prime minister's tie? This is the man the claimed to be a socialist to the labour party membership. Now he turns to Britain and claims to be a centrist. Does he believe in anything apart from himself as prime minister? Bully for us we'll probably have the luxury of finding out just how this labour government will continue to contribute to britain's steady and inevitable decline.

Worth remembering the stark difference of what a Labour government delivers, compared to the dire poverty and inept, inadequate and incompetent lying Tory criminals. Yes, 13 years of Tory inept, inadequate and incompetent governance. When Labour were in government: we all enjoyed-: - Longest period of sustained lowest inflation since the 1960s. - Lowest mortgage rates - Introduced the National Minimum Wage. - More than 14000 Police sustained in England & Wales than the Tories maintained - the Tories sacked 20,000 police officer places. - Labour cut overall crime by 32% - 85,000 More Nurses - 32,000 More Doctors - Brought back Matrons to hospital wards. - 36,000 More Teachers - 274,000 More support staff and Teaching assistants. - ALL full time workers given the right to 24 day paid holidays. - One Million Pensioners lifted out of poverty. - 600,000 children lifted out of relative poverty. - Hospital waiting list sat 18 WEEKS maximum. - The Cleanest Rivers, Beaches, Drinking Water and Air, since the Industrial Revolution. And the Economy was doing much, much better under Labour than the corrupt, lying Tory criminals. FACT! Vote the Tory crooks & shysters out on May 4th, Britain deserves better, Britain deserves prosperity over Tory imposed poverty!
