There is actually a more unsettling reason for why women in eastern europe appear to be more attractive (aside from looks). Due to the rise and spread of liberal democracratic attitudes, many nations in the west have been affected and pressured by groups advocating on issues such as feminism, lgbt etc which has resulted in mass demasculination of the male counterpart of society and has had the opposite effect on females. Which is why you are more likely to find a more androgynous appeal to males & females who are from highly liberalised areas such as london, new york city etc Countries such as belarus have not been affected as much with these issues and so the women basically come across as more feminine-like and ofcourse as you said the culture thats remained intact has helped too

I lived in many locations around the world including several Eastern European countries one of which was Belarus. I was in Borisov or baysaw as it is sometimes transliterated. I agree with all you say here, I lived in training camp hotel in a forest miles from the city. I have never tasted the air before when you are outside it was like you can feel and taste the oxygen it was so clean and fresh. The only equivalent place that had air like that was when I lived at altitude in Switzerland. Obviously the vast amount of forest is creating such conditions very healthy.

You must visit Slovenia and Austria, the air is fresh and clean, no rubbish on the streets anywhere in the country. 70% of Slovenia is covered in forests. These countries have the Alps, but also a much better attitude and policies towards the environment and sustainability than Italy for example.

I am from Belarus myself. Completely agree on nature, people, partly on food. Since I've spent part of my life in Western Europe, Singapore, China, I can compare what is like living in these parts of the world. When I am abroad I miss Belarusian forests and lakes, girls are really pretty and smart at the same time, food is lovely but a bit bland for my taste after Singapore food LOL :) I want to spice up everything and miss Laksa soup badly when in Minsk. However, the political and econimical situation in Belarus are complicated. I was born in Minsk, lived almost all my life in Minsk, married a girl from Minsk, we have two kids, but we still don't have a place to live in Minsk. I am a researcher and research jobs in Belarus are limited and with unstable salary. Here in China the govement understands that research is meaningful for the economy in the long run and has ability to put way more money in research. In Belarus you can either be an IT guy working on foreign customers or part of the government apparatus to arrange decent living.

When I started visiting Lithuania and Belarus I realised how ethnically and culturally diverse my own home town has become over the last 20-25 years. Brought back memories of when I was growing up which was unexpected (and the cars, there were still plenty of these 1980s Ford, Volkswagen etc. on the streets of Minsk at that time). It also seems that Belarusians have retained more cultural, religious and folk traditions than in my own country, and national identity is not as controversial a subject. As far as food goes I quite like Belarusian cakes, the big ones you can buy in the bread plant shops and in supermarkets and Soviet classics like Kartoshka.

With that said, as someone who lived in Russia for a few years, there's a trade-off: -To keep prices low enough to cater to the average local consumer, the quality of products available often end up being questionable. -The prices of domestically made things (or things made in the former Soviet Union) are low, but imported things can be a bit more expensive than in the U.S or western Europe.

One can find basically all of the advantages of living in Belarus also in neighbouring Lithuania and Latvia - and you have the baltic sea in addition. True, prices might be slightly higher than in Belarus (still quite low as compared to Western European levels), but then, as a EU citizen, you can forget about visas, residence permits, customs etc.... Also, the risk of getting arbitrarily arrested (and worse) by the authorities is significantly lower.

actually all these are good reasons and I can also confirm that, as Belarus is also my motherland. But, Lukashenko doesn´t have his citizens as a first priority, don´t make a mistake or mislead your audience. Luka(shenko) only bothers to have absolute political power with no opposition whatsoever. No independent TV or newspaper, no criticism of the country leader is allowed. Country with no human rights, courts without any justice, but only with mostly guilty verdicts. Yes, that´s nice to live here with no worries enjoying the bright site of belarus, but, there is no future for the nation with Lukashenko. That´s why many young and initiative professionals migrate from Belarus. Many more want to do this also, but not everyone can. Anyway, good luck and enjoy Belarus :)

Mashed potatoes with thyme and some chillis (minus butter and milk - instead we use olive oil). Shepherd's pie (beef that is marinated in fried onions, thyme, peas, garam masala) Never tried draniki or blini or kopytka. What we normally do at home is that my ma and I prepare Pakistani and Turkish foods. In regards to what potato meal we do, my ma usually slices the potatoes and dips them into batter with spring onions before frying them. Or we do paratha with potato filling before shallow frying. 6:30 you mentioned Ukraine's culture was affected by mass tourism - I think this is only true for the central parts of Kiev and Lviv. I live in Kiev and if you move beyond the very center seeing tourists will be uncommon.

You are totally right in your five reasons why you like living in Belarus, all valid and honest. Great video by the way and look forward to more from you. On a separate note I guess the 63 thumbs down are from Irish Colleens! Just to add I think Ireland is a fantastic country and the Irish ladies are beautiful too - even that Mrs Brown is growing on me!

I couldn't agree more with you I have been coming to Belarus every year since 2001 and love the place we stay with friends who live about 500 meters from the Komarovski Rinok in Minsk. I have to agree that its a very safe place although you are not the only Irishman there I know a brother Liam who is also Irish and lives in MInsk.

You are probably referring to Brother Liam O'Meara, a Christian Brother who runs a charity called the Burren Chernobyl Project. He doesn't live here but comes out to Belarus quite a lot.

Yes you are right he does spend quite a lot of time there though. I got involved with a charity for the victims of Chernobyl and that's why I know him hence the visit to Belarus in 2001 and after visiting once couldn't keep away. Wont be out this year but hopefully next year we could meet up perhaps.

Sorry to say, but as soon as a Belarusian lady hears that you're from abroad, she becomes as nice as you can possibly imagine. That's the way they are raised. Low self-esteem, raised as an accessory in a man's life, raised with the feeling of not being enough without a man, with the idea of being successful if there's a man from abroad next to her, etc. Or another scenario - they're too confident and you're nothing but a step in their life of looking for better and more. You can be a homeless buddy from NY, but as soon as she hears "NEW YORK" in her mind she's already holding a US flag (or a passport) and standing next to the Statue of Liberty, or shopping in Gucci on 5th Avenue, or chilling in LA, etc. She's obsessed with the idea of HER being in US, HER holding a "status" of an American wife, HER being so trendy and chic, HER being so international and speaking English, etc. In both scenarios they will be the worst hypocrites and pleasers in order to ''get'' you or make you like them in order to achieve their personal goals. Sure, it can be flattering, but it's simply fake.

Kelly B Sure, go ahead if you want to share your life with a fake facade which also will raise your children. A fake facade that will smile and say "yes, honey" and at the same time will talk shit about you behind your back. And that most likely will leave you with nothing once she realizes that she was nothing but a pretty and convenient facade for 30 years (plus the years of her childhood). At the end of the day, trust, love, and affection aren't for everybody.

You mean the women are brought up like they should be? That's a shame, i like my women to loathe children, have several cats and pursue careers in which they can pay lots of tax over having meaningful relationships. Pity.

In Belarus there are NO homeless people at all because of the local law, so before to sell a property you need to proof you have another place to move in and register all family members at that address. In addition, banks can't grab your property if you miss payments of your mortgage on time... before to do that, banks have to provide another place to move you in (in other city or some village). People are so responsible and do their payments regularly, so if some complications arise, banks try to refinance borrowers or give them some time to find a new job or other way to find money source.

How do they take to an Irish man vs an American? My wife is from Minsk but I insist that strangers think I'm from Ireland or another English speaking place as not to be charged double at a market ( they assume I'm rich ) I'm not . I also get in credible rude stares and looks when somebody hears me speaking English.
