Coach's "bizarre combination of arrogance, insecurity, delusion, and sincerity" is literally Survivor Michael Scott. Tell me I'm right. Ever since I've made this connection I can't see Coach without thinking about Michael bahaha.

I always thought the main difference between Russell (who I can't stand) and Tony (who I love) is that Tony is having so much fun without being unnecessarily mean just to be mean. And he didn't have the strong sense of misogyny that Russell had (I can't imagine him talking about Trish or Sarah the way Russell talked about the women in his alliance). Watching Tony run around the island like a kid with too much sugar out past his bedtime was so entertaining. Joe was so bland compared to Ozzy and Malcolm. I remember thinking he seemed nice enough in WA, but that might have just been compared to most of the other guys in the season. Sebastian was just annoying.

What makes Debbie so great is that she is this natural evolution of Coach knock-offs to the Angelena arch-type.

Almost the entire cast of Pirate Master were doppelgangers of former early-to-mid 2000s Survivors.

My favourite Ryan moment is when Jeff tries to make an analogy with Ryan about relationships and Ryan just immedidately goes "I've never been in a relationship..." and Jeff reacts like hes a little taken aback but totally understands why and responds "...Ok!"

It should be worth noting that Krista, Tarzan, Vince and Debbie, Joe and Wardog actually set out to play like the players they ripped off. Ryan wanted to play like Todd, and Phillip considered himself his own man.

As strange as it may sound, I actually don't think I ever thought of Ryan as a Cochran clone until this video. And I remember watching Pirate Master and actually liking it. The sad thing is with just a little bit of tweaking to the Mutiny system (make it so they only need 1 Officer for it to work, and the Officer becomes the new Captain), and a second season, I'm positive the show could have totally been turned around.

I know it was briefly featured at the start, but given that Terry has gone on record as saying he wanted to go on the show because he was inspired by Tom, I'd think it would be worth a larger shout-out. Hell, he's on the same season as Danielle, who's much a Stephanie knock-off in the same way. Was it really coincidence they were put in charge of dividing the tribes? On RHAP's recent season countdown Rob even referred to Panama as "Bizarro Palau" where the hot mess tribe somehow succeeded instead.

Joe Don was one of my favorites of that show, so the fact that he was apparently originally on Survivor Guatemala is wild to me and I'm glad that he got cast on *something* at least, because he's really good TV. I'd also argue that Azmyth from that season could possibly have been an Ozzy knock-off?

If we could do honorable mentions I would definitely put Cassandra from Survivor Fiji as a knock off version of Cirie from Panama. It's not just the fact that they were middle aged African-American women. They played up how Cassandra in Fiji was afraid of the outdoors similarly to the way Cirie was afraid of leaves in Panama. Only difference between the two is that Cirie has a great social game and Cassandra...didn't.

As much as I hate to say this, Taj from Tocantins is by far the best example of this. She’s not exactly the same as Cirie but she has roughly the same demographic profile and a very similar skillset (ie Taj is good at the game for the same reasons that Cirie is)

I do not doubt that CBS would have had a Hantz every season if they had their way. I think they were doomed by the 1-2 punch of Willie Hantz getting violent on Big Brother and then Brandon's meltdown on Caramoan. They probably really still wanted Hantz's on their shows, but realized they were too risky to be worth the proverbial squeeze at that point.

I know this is over a year old but the amount of Sophie knock offs is also insane (Aubrey, Shereen, Hannah) but I feel like they never win anymore because Sophie was a bit arrogant whereas the others were more anxious and indecisive. You could argue its the archetype of "nerdy girl" but I'd argue sophie and the rest were more analytical and socially calculated than the archetype would put them in

Thank you defending Ometepe, I hate seeing people say that season was rigged. Yes Rob took control of passive youth who were fans of his, but he still played well getting rid of the smart players on the tribe, keeping them all in check, performing well in challenges, and even finding the idol. But now after watching this I do believe Krista was another Natalie and they might have been setting things up for Russel to be the dominant one.

All of Coach's castings where great. And I never saw any other cast as trying to replicate him. Guess its just not possible.

I never understood why he did that, because it would have been 3-2 if he voted with her and she still would have gone home, but in that case he wouldn’t have betrayed her. So by throwing his vote on the her, she went home and got betrayed, which could have potentially lost him a jury vote or even a few. Why do you say it’s game advancing?

Great Video. I agree, coach is the best casting of the show. Not sure I agree with "of all reality show history". There is a vast variety of reality shows, even in just the competition chute, of the now massive reality TV catalog. I would argue there are some reality dating shows that have had similar tiered castings in levels of true, pure entertainment.
