Here's a list of 5 things that I don't like about living in Flagstaff. I've lived in Flagstaff for 14 years and these are few things that I would like to see change or be different. Don't get me wrong, Flagstaff is a great place to live and raise a family, but no matter where you live there's always a few things you don't like.
This channel focuses on FLAGSTAFF and real estate. There will be videos based on the current real estate trends and fun & exciting events and things to do in the Flagstaff area year round.
*** If you have any questions about FLAGSTAFF REAL ESTATE, please reach out to me and I'd be happy to help you in any way I can. I've been a resident in Flagstaff since 2007 and can answer all your questions.

Living somewhere where the daily average humidity is 70%-80%, I can’t imagine someone disliking living in an area without it.

Yes Flagstaff,AZ I use to live there for 53 years was raised there and worked at the local TV station KNAZ which is no more. Yes Flagstaff is very dry no humidity, it's always windy in the spring. Housing and apartment rentals are very expensive. Not to mention food ,gas and clothing and other services. High paying jobs wont come here, Homeless transients are a big nuisance too the city! No water of course it's like you have to drive to a lake or river for recreation use. One big issue Flagstaff has is the traffic Milton Road is always congested so is downtown and Route 66. Living in Flagstaff has it's pros and cons.

I lived there in the 70's. The drunken transients issue has always been there.

I live in Long Island NY, humidity sucks and winters are cold and damp!, real-estate very expensive, cost of living is expensive, lots of beaches but you have to pay to park or be a resident to get in. Always a drunk some where…. 🤷🏻

Visited flagstaff loved it but yes felt like I needed more water. The location is amazing if you don’t mind travel. I love the idea of not living amongst too much action. I did experience a lot of bed bug issues at low priced hotels.

I guess I grew up in California and lived in NY most of my life so my view on this is skewed but I was actually amazed at how small the homeless problem is when I moved here. There is that homeless shelter on the south side of the tracks. But generally they're only on that block. I remember in orange California my brother waking up to homeless people sleeping on the front lawn of his 900k house, just unreal.

I lived in Flagstaff from 1983 to 1985, and I absolutely loved it. Now it's 2022 and I still miss it and wish I had never left. It was around 40,000 people and I lived there and now I see it's around 75,000. Sadly it would be much too expensive for me to move back at this point. And the last time I visited was 1998 so hope to at least come back sometime soon for a vacation. I live in Kansas City, Missouri which is my hometown but I absolutely cannot stand the humidity here. I loved the dry air in Flagstaff and would gladly take trade our humidity for the dry air at a moment's notice. I guess no matter what we choose every place has its pros and cons. I've been to many places in my life in Flagstaff is right at the very very top of the list.

You should definitely come out for a visit. If you haven't been here since 1998 you wouldn't even recognize it. It's grown so much but still has it's small town feel.

Interesting. Agree with everything you said but always liked the 'dry' air and strong pine scent. I lived there as a kid in the early 70's (went to Sechrist and Christensen schools). I think the winter of '72 we had over 200" of snow that winter. Living between Flag and Fort Valley.....we missed a lot of school because the snow shut everything down. Have been back many times over the years to visit family and it has grown immensely since I lived there.....and yes....too expensive for me to live there.

Yeah it's grown quite a bit even in the 14 years we've been here. But it still has it's small town charm.

Really appreciate these videos. We are also from Michigan (I'm from Colorado originally) and are absolutely over the gray Michigan winters. I've lived in 7 different states and Michigan, while nice in the summer and fall, is the most depressing winter I've experienced. Any tips for a family coming from the upper Midwest?

Three annoying, but weird things about Flagstaff: 1. The sunshine can cause serious eyeburn while shoveling snow. Wear sunglasses. 2. Raccoons cause serious cuts to cats. Skunks are also a problem. Keep the cat in at night. 3. Late spring freezes in May cause all the fruit to drop from apple, cherry and other orchard trees.

Hey! #3 really concerns me since I have young kids. I’ve read reviews about the homeless population growing there a lot and then hanging out a lot at children’s parks and the library- as well as unfortunate situations happening at train tracks. As a young mom of kids, I am concerned about this especially because we left the Seattle area for this exact reason. Am I overreacting or is this not a safe place to raise children now? I’m sure it was great when you first moved there and your kids were young. Thanks!
@FundsInTheSun
@FundsInTheSun 2 жыл бұрын
It's definitely no where near as bad as Seattle. We've never had any trouble with them bothering our children. We even had our children ride the city bus to school when they were in 7-8th grade and weren't concerned. It's more of an eyesore at times than anything, but the police do a good job at controlling.

Anywhere that the weather is nice year round homeless are gonna gather and its gonna get MUCH worse from here as our economybis collapsing. If you walk outside and say "man, is beautiful out right now!" Get ready for a homeless explosion. If you have to live on the street, may as well live where the weather is nice.

I have also heard Prescott is another place to shop, but probably doesn't have any more options than Flagstaff does (i.e. Target, Kohl's, Wal Mart, etc.). Only 100 miles southwest.

Moving to flagstaff from Michigan Is a major difference. Any thoughts of moving back? I say this because I'm from Michigan and living in Las Vegas for 28 years now with the hopes to return tonrhe grand rapids area. Vegas has gotten too crowded

@@rubindiego Hey Rubin! I don't think I'll ever move back to Michigan. I like sunshine too much. Ha! I have a cabin and 10 acres near Clare so I go back and visit and hunt. But as each year goes by I want less and less snow. I came to AZ just before the '08 crash. The economy was already crashing in MI and my wife's sister lived here. We thought it was a good place to raise our kids, and it has been.

Sorry but LoL. Your story reminds me of living in Klamath Falls, Oregon. 400 miles from civilization, Portland Oregon or San Francisco, Ca. I was a college student there, a long, long time ago. Same type of climate. Great place to live if you like hunting for deer or Elk. Not quite as high in elevation only 4,300ft. I like to watch the train station live cam. Question how’s the food across the tracks from the train station at lumberyard brewing Co. Food looks good on their website 🤔🤔

I visited Flagstaff in 2020, and fell in love! As well as with Williams, Sedona, Tempe, Scottsdale, Mesa and everywhere in between! My only complaint is that I didn’t get to spend enough time in Flag and Sedona. It’s funny you mention Lake Mary because we didn’t get to visit when we were there and it’s on my hit list for next time! I live in San Antonio, Texas where Houston is 4.5 hours away, Dallas is 5 hours away, Austin is 1 hour away but has become so overpopulated the traffic there just isn’t worth jt. Corpus Christi is 2 hours away, but the beaches there leave a lot to be desired. South Padre is 4.5 hours away, pine trees are 6.5 hours away, the beautiful mountains of El Paso are 8 hours away, the second largest canyon after the Grand Canyon of course, the Palo Duro Canyon is 8 hours away. My point is, I would love to have your short commutes to such gorgeous places. We’re just so south central Texas that it feels like being stuck in a rut. Even still, you provided a sobering look of Flagstaff, and I appreciate that.

Well complaining about the weather is pointless sounds like you need to move somewhere else. I was going to say you have like Mary but I went by there this year and it is really dry that damn near dried up. Another thing I thought you were going to b**** about the traffic because I think the traffic is pretty bad there sometimes. I haven't bought a car or a house there but food and gas seem to be the same price there's everywhere else I don't like sales tax I'm from Oregon but I do spend time in Arizona. You might like pasting better it's a little lower altitude got more lakes small town but can't have everything
