I might add dont be discouraged by a loss but instead use it as a learning experience losses help you figure out things you may change to adapt to different metas if your having a particularly bad match up spread or lack of consistency with a deck it helps you identify areas to change things.

Correct me if im wrong, but what I think the biggest takeaway from this video is just learn. Be willing and wanting to learn is rly what all these things come down to. If u want to take ur playing to the next level u have to learn how to get there. Whether its thru talking to people, playing sims, or whatching replays etc. its all learning abt what bad habits u have, new things u didnt know, or refining / improving what u alr know. And by learning those things thats how you get better. By learning.

Ya i mean thats a really good way to look at it, you have to open yourself up to actually learning and be willing to admit you made mistakes or have bad habits

Why not a paid beginners crash course class on metafy or some other medium? Id like to know more about sequencing on all the various decks. I know that would be a lengthy video but I'd really be interested in something like that.

Maybe in the future I could but honestly I dont know if I would do a metafy or something like that. In the future I would like to start steaming and then maybe I could do something like that then. That said when you say sequncing are you referring to the starting hands and like optimal combos or something else. Since this would be a long video but maybe something I could break down into parts. depending on what you are looking for.

I, too, would be interested in tips on sequencing. Meaning, examples of both general and common specific tips of things to do in order during your turn, e.g., playing items, supporters, thinning the deck, playing energy. ...Thanks for the helpful video.

Great Video! Thanks for all the tips Prof. I would also like to note a very important mechanic that I have been noticing more and more as I observe my and others game play. Luck. Luck is actually a huge component in this game. This game certainly requires skill and deep understanding of plays and cards but I have been seeing luck decide game after game when I used to think I or the other player was just bad. You getting a great starting hand and your opponent bricking can basically decide the game right there. As I've gotten better I have been paying more attention to my opponents setup and playstyle and I can tell now when they brick or have their bench loaded and are flying into their evolutions. In short it's crazy how often a match in this game can come down to a coin flip or a top deck.

So part of this is true, since it's a card game chance is just an element of the game. However that's why I recommend playing solo games, and playing out test hands over and over. Since you can't always relay on drawing well. But the more effort you put into learning your combos and how to play out of bad hands the easier it will be when it happens. So chance is a part of the game but you want to try to limit it as much as possible

Yea I agree with that. I'm not saying like the whole game is just a slot machine or anything like that. I just think one would be surprised how many cards in this game have coin flip mechanics, hinge on you going first or second, and have you re-shuffling (IE Iono, Unfair Stamp, etc.., cards which you will see in many deck lists). I can't tell you how many times my Iono ends up helping my opponent rather than hindering them lol and vise versa. But as you said getting your draw engines setup early and using seeking engines like Pidgeot Ex and scrying cards like Cyphermanic's Codebreaking can pull the game away from those chance moments.

Hey man, I made Arceus this ladder playing a Gardy deck. I wanted to start playing in-person because I feel like I've gotten enough practice now but I wanted to know if you had any other tips for in-person play?

Honestly when it comes to going from off line to in person I would say the biggest change is remembering how cards that shuffle your deck work. Like iono placing your hand at the bottom, and you only shuffle your hand. Things like that. since you can get so used to the game doing the small details for you. since I remember at my first event after coming from online play, I randomly shuffled my hand into the deck haha and it was a game lose.

@@adamgulamhusein8768 no problem and hey it takes time to get used to so if you make mistakes its ok! Just get used to know your damage numbers and stuff since you won't have the game to do the math for you. ( I made that mistake to of being off by like 10 damage haha )
