The Minden/Harlan tornado on the 26th also was sampled by the DOW truck and its wind was around 220mph which is also EF-5 speeds, but it was not rated that high because the places it did hit was not consistent for an EF-5.

Seriously?? Alot of those homes have stood such weather for 50 to 100 years, and were built much stronger than "flimsy" homes built today. The extreme power of tornados are far above our imaginations. This tornado swung vehicles around like toys.

Because 99.99 days out of 100 the "flimsy" house isn't being hit by an EF3+ tornado and provides for an affordable home. Homes need to be built with the everyday in mind, not to deal with fraction of 1% ever happening circumstances for which in all honesty, a studier structure is still going to be rendered uninhabitable. And considering this question gets asked almost verbatim every time a tornado hits anywhere, it's time to confirm such questions aren't the inquiries of the genuinely curious, but the work of trolls or spambots. It's honestly getting tiresome.

I agree homes aren't built like they used to be, but even the best built homes sometimes can't survive the strength of mother nature.

I was just thinking that, if the houses were built of bricks or concrete blocks and reinforced with rebars/concrete, they. might be a bit more tornado-proof.
